There was a clear case of TV studio commentating in the second half when Eames loudly proclaimed that the referee was going for a VAR penalty referral after William Carvalho bundled some Iranian over. It came on the back of several instances where Iran felt they were hard done by due to VAR or lack of VAR (e.g. Portugal’s earlier penalty) and they’d been appealing for everything in the spell leading up to it.
Obviously gormless halfwits like @anon78624367 and @mikehunt would have giddily thought the same as Eames. However, astute TV watchers / couch potatoes like myself would have noted that the referee wasn’t walking in a straight line to the VAR screen exactly on halfway but was making his way at an angle to the Iranian bench to warn Queiroz and his coaching team for their overzealous appeals and haranguing of the fourth official.
*25 minutes intervals on the bike, 18 minutes running on the treadmill and 0 minutes using the weights.
