Higuain has had enough chances. I wouldn’t have even had him in the squad - Icardi should have been in ahead of him.

Di Maria scored a cracking goal but he was useless throughout. Higs is a fat cunt playing in a second rate league. Mascherano is done. Dybala is the big mystery and has to played going forward and Icardi as Sid says… What do you do with the defence?

There was a roughly ten minute period early in the second half either side of our second goal where Di Maria had Pavard in all sorts of trouble. Then Pavard scored.
Di Maria was actually a lot better than I expected him to be. Pavon has some potential but he was another one who shouldn’t have started. That meant we were carrying a wide player, and our full-backs are shite, so Di Maria was our only wide threat of any sort.
Rojo was on a yellow, and there was the threat of him getting a second, but you have to trust your players. I’m not sure there would have been the same sort of defensive collapse had he gone. Then again there may well have been - the problem was systemic rather than individual - but the defensive individuals within the system are not high calibre. Rojo is about as good as we have.
We probably needed to park the bus after going 2-1 up. 11 men behind the ball and pray.
Di Maria didn’t play in the pathetic collapse against Croatia either.
Every game mattered for Argentina at this WC. He was whipped off against Nigeria when they badly needed a goal or they were out and it was a shock he actually lasted 70 mins. He started today abysmally but scored a cracker and it lifted him. Overall he had a poor WC and is a shadow of his former self.
