11/06/2007 - 19:12:57
Electronic Arts and the FAI today announced that the eircom League of Ireland will feature for the first time in internationally acclaimed football videogame FIFA 08.
All 12 teams in the Premier Division of the eircom League of Ireland will be featured in the game.
EA is delighted that Irish football will be proudly represented in the world renowned FIFA franchise this year. Its a really exciting time for the FAI eircom League of Ireland, and we look forward to giving Irish football fans the opportunity to play the game as their favourite homegrown teams for the first time, said Craig Auld, Ireland marketing manager for EA.
Fran Gavin, director of the FAI eircom League of Ireland said: We are thrilled to be working with EA Sports to bring our league to a worldwide audience of millions.
Having the eircom League of Ireland included in FIFA 08 is very exciting for supporters of the league, and it will also enable people around the world to play FAI eircom League of Ireland fixtures on their computer consoles.
FIFA 08 is scheduled for worldwide release this Autumn on all major game platforms, including PlayStation, Ninetendo, Xbox and PC.
18 Eircom league Clubs (12 Premier, 6 First Division)
Real badges for all teams in the game
Up to date transfers for all teams
Realistic Kits, Sponsors etc…
6 EL First Division teams are:
Athlone Town, Cobh Ramblers, Dundalk, Finn Harps, Kildare County, Shelbourne
Birmingham, Derby and Sunderland have replaced Charlton, Sheff Utd and Watford.
Not everything at each EL club is perfect. There may be players missing and there may be players no longer at a club. I used FM07’s db for my info. Not all kits are perfected but i have tried to get them as close as possible.
The launch for the game is apparently happening in Krystal nightclub, cant get any more info at the moment due to any game related sites being blocked in work.
Not liking the reports I’ve been hearing about the new Pro Evo. Apparently its going to be more “arcadey”. If this is the case Konami can shove it up their collective arse.

Haven’t heard that at all Flano. I’ve played the demo on the Xbox 360 and it’s quite promising. Don’t like the FIFA games at all really but I’m getting a copy of the new FIFA for the pc. Started getting it last night so hopefully it will be fully acquired this evening.

Captshan was my source on this. He must be lying to me
I wasnt lying Flano. They havent released the demo for Pro Evo on the Playstation Network yet so havent had a chance to play it but diving in it. You get yellows for it which sounds good but if a peno gets given against me I wouldnt be happy.
Splashed out on Fifa today probbably because of the Eircom Teams. I like the passing. I was like Arsenal with the slick passing even though I was Rovers. One grip is that Tyler and Gray didnt mention I was Rovers which is disappointing. I want them to talk about how good Joey Ndo is too. He the best player on Pats.
Diving is in it alright but it’s very hard to pull off - well you can dive easily enough (3 button combination) but you get a yellow card unless you time it perfectly to coincide with a slide tackle I think. I haven’t managed it yet, though I haven’t played that often.
