FIFA World Cup 2026 - North America

Proper WC group there too South American team, European, African and Asian or are Mexico technically central?

Another carrot.

If Ireland win Group A and win the Round of 32 clash we’d likely be set up for a Round of 16 clash with England at the Azteca Stadium.

Some may say there is some football to be played before such a match but I personally think the nation should cut out the middleman and focus on the prospect of Troy Parrott getting his fist to the ball before Jordan Pickford for the winning goal.

Likely that Argentina meet Uruguay in the last 32

This is some crock of shit. This abomination of a World Cup will go for 39 days and it will take over 3 weeks before we see a decent game.

The next Rugby World Cup lasts 44 days.

What an incredible occasion we all have to look forward to here.

We all thought the last one would be shit but it was class. It’s the greatest event in the world.

We’ll stuff England as it’ll be our fourth match in Mexico and our third in the Azteca Stadium whereas all of England’s preceding matches are outside Mexico. We’ll be well used to the altitude while the lack of oxygen will have the English faces looking whiter than their jerseys, even Bellingham and Saka.

It’ll be like a home venue for us, especially the Dundalk lads. Stan wasn’t heatstruck that time he was just embarrassed at having to play against Mexico.

In ALL of the matches in ALL of sport over ALL of time, the centrepiece is probably this match.

In fact there’s no probably, it is.

There were only 32 teams in that though and the groups were fairly cut throat. The only potential group of death I can see is France, Senegal, Norway and some team like Bolivia or Iraq landing into it from the play-offs.

Yeah, but that’s mainly because teams need 6 or 7 days between games, it’s 3 or 4 for football.

Some of the best games of a World Cup can be the ones you least expect. 4 games a day is something we should be in favour of

You can’t have too much of a good thing.

A pint of Guinness is a good thing. Instead of having three, always have 20.

Who said I wasn’t in favour of it? My point is the Rugby World Cup is drawn out because of the recovery time the teams need between games.

Sorry, it was @Fitzy giving out about too many football games on tv

I’ve seen something suggesting that the group stage kick-off times will be 5pm, 8pm, 11pm and 2am. Those last two kick-off times are a balls. Albeit an Ireland match in a World Cup at 2am with the pubs hopping could be iconic.

We’ll somehow make it work

Too many nothing games. This is the World Cup, it’s meant to be a whirlwind of tremendous football, not a seemingly never ending tedium. They’ve diluted it too much. I hope it’s brilliant, but they’re making it very difficult.
I’d almost prefer the corruption of Blatter to the sleaze of Infamy at this stage.

Sorry. No.
