A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspect device discovered in Swords, County Dublin, in the early hours of this morning.

The Army bomb disposal team were alerted at 1.30am when the device was discovered outside the Wright Venue at the Airside Retail Park.

The area was declared safe some hours later

Murder inquiry underway in Dublin
Gardai have launched a murder investigation in Dublin after a man who was stabbed overnight died in hospital in the city this afternoon.

The 29-year-old was initially brought to the Rotunda Hospital on Parnell St but he was immediately transferred to the intensive care unit of the Mater Hospital where he died shortly before 4pm .

It is understood he had been socialising in the Wright Venue in Swords but left the club at around 3am and made his way to the city centre.

Gardaí in Swords have appealed for anyone who was in the nightclub early hours of this morning and who may have information to contact them.

They would also like to speak to anyone who was near the Rotunda at around 3.30am.

I hope they didn’t refuse to serve Wayne Dundon’s sister.

I’m hearing the main street in Swords has been closed off due to a security alert.

Can anyone shed any light on this ?

No sign of NCC today either
