Like many of you, the recent lockdown has given me time to reflect on lots of things in life. One such area I’ve spent time pondering is the political process in Ireland, and the events of recent days have cemented my own musings.

We are currently ruled through a 19th century political process… Whereby we appoint people with no background or experience to positions of critical importance to running the country. We do this for 5 years, where little can be achieved, and we start the process all over again… Not only is this a pointless and fruitless way to run a country, it’s very costly…we pay these hams a pretty penny to trade insults in the Dail… As well as the expense of elections…
When you see the recent cabinet it really strikes home how futile and outdated the process is… A minister for health with a engineering background. A minister for education and research who doesn’t even have a degree. A minister for transport who wants to scrap transport… and on we go…

This would make little to no difference if it was Sinn Fein in power. As the system is inept.

With this in mind i would like to formally renounce my membership of Sinn Fein and the army council with immediate effect.

I will from henceforth be campaigning for the abolition of the political process and parliamentary house as we know it.

While I still stand for a 32 county republic, it will be under a different banner.

Go raibh maith agat agus tabhair aire.

An phoblacht abu.

End.

Is this because you got COVID-19 below in the Rochestown Park at the SF mass gathering?

Exhibit A.

Straight into mud slinging.

We need a revolution.

Agreed, it’s an absolute cluster fuck. All the whining about no minister on the western seaboard is hilarious too, as if they’d do anything for that area. We need to elect a dictator for ten year and kill him/her at the end. He or She should have a degree in medicine and engineering to keep things balanced.

Michael O Leary should be running the country & anything else it stupid .

Career politicians have had their day… All our problems going forward are tech and environmental… What the fuck do we need a school teacher from Ballymuck for, or a college drop out socialist from Swords.

You take a clatter of people who have been at the top of their game for 20 years and you let them form a council. Doctors, engineers, technicians, scientists, economists… Lads nearing the end of their own careers and have lived a life of experience. That should be your starting point. By all means have an elected house as a check and for public say in matters, but we have it all backwards… Inept careerists relying on snail paced pen pushing civil servants…our grandkids will look back at laugh at how stupid the whole process is.

So the country will have to row back on things all the time?

What’s your proposal to replace it?

I’m that dictator and I’m confident enough in my abilities to wipe out my opponents before they get me and also reform the island for the greater in that time.

I gave that a like for effort but I don’t really agree with it. The system is shite but I’d prefer it to what they have in China or even Russia. The system genuinely prevents the risk of dictatorship. It also allows the genuine values of the nation to gradually (eventually) filter through to the top, even if those values of the nation are mostly greedy and shit.

I went through a period of thinking that we should academics and civil servants and experts running everything but I don’t think things would be that much better. All the national experts and economists made a massive balls of the Celtic Tiger, largely because of group-think and careerism. You can’t just blame Bertie, the civil servants were talking about a “soft landing” and such shite. The ESRI or whatever it’s called is another joke. If academics ran everything the government would just be controlled by group-think and personality-politics in the civil service and universities. The universities are absolutely horrible places now, I don’t want those values running the country. At least with how politics are now the personality politics are visible, probably less sinister than the personality politics in academia or the civil service.

I’d also say that Ireland allows us to hate out government with as much bile as we want and that doesn’t achieve anything but it’s fairly therapeutic, whereas in countries where they’re not allowed hate their government like Russia, they end up hating the gays or the foreigners instead.

Everyone thinks this for a while. You need to just accept your despair, give up thinking that there’s some utopia, fail better etc.

Sure you don’t have a vote anywhere, why not sign up

If “experts” ran the country we’d never come out from under the bed

The Seanad are the brains of the operation. They advise the Dáil.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

A vote is wasted on a thick cunt like you.
