Non-playing substitute in 1975 but picked up a winner’s medal not count?
Yes it fucking well does
Matt Busby - but he won his playing medal in 1934
Make up your own question if you want. The question I asked was to name the eight men who have played on and managed FA Cup winning teams. Count Bobby Gould if you want, warming your arse on the subs bench doesn’t count. There’s one more out there and in your case, its downright disgraceful you haven’t got him yet.
Joe Mercer won as City manager and proabably as an Aresenal player
*Could be pre war of course as a player
I didn’t read the rules…post war

Correct on Joe Mercer. Arsenal 1950 Manchester City 1969.
Poor answering from any Manchester City fans, not to get that one.

“Lifelong” Manchester City fans.
Sometimes the woods are obscured by the trees. I am still incensed over the belittling of crazy gang supremo Bobby Gould’s 75 triumph by this upstart.
The real revelation here is that so called lifelong Manchester City fans are completely unaware of Joe Mercer’s achievements in the game. Incredible.
That’s because they’re Merceranaries.
Continuing the FA Cup Final theme, players who have come off the bench to score in a final? By my reckoning there’s 7, but I’m open to correction, if there’s any more I’ve overlooked.
I admit my mistake and hark back to the time on QOS when Emlyn Hughes got a question about his own career wrong, nobody’s perfect not even Emlyn or Joe.
Now apologise to Bobby Gould.

Probably no harm in clarifying for myboyblue and any other Manchester City fans out there, who Joe Mercer was. He was Manchester City manager from the mid 60’s to early 70’s presiding over possibly the most successful era in the club’s history. A league title in 1968, FA Cup win in 1969 and a League Cup & Cup Winners Cup in 1970.
Ian Wright
McCall
Yeah, got 6 of the 7 in. Rush, McCall, Wright, McClair, Sheringham & Andy Carroll
