I remember the footix folk around the time of Men Behaving Badly. The two dovetailed nicely together. Sean from Tipp town who would be in a foul mood on Sunday and in work on Monday at the 11 am coffee break, because “United” lost on the weekend. And had the six pack of beers for Sky Sports and banished “the wife” or “herself” for a few hours from the house to go shopping, so he could catch up on footix related stuff. Or went on a date with some lass and ditched her because she didn’t know where Liverpool played home games.
I remember working in a warehouse with a fella from Shannon who used to refer to himself as a “scouser”. Man child used to give me grief because I wore a Utd hoody the odd time.
Isn’t there an ultimate footix back in Pallaskenry with a house called Old Trafford?

We could nearly have a thread of it’s own for this type of banter as the season goes on
I worked with a man back in the day whose house was called Anfield.
He had a self made wall charts on the classroom wall with all the seasons fixtures including lineups, goalscorers, attendance and so on. He could show you ones from other years then. He famously attended champions league finals and was back in school teaching the following morning.
He used tell his classes that life revolved around the three "F"s, namely faith,family and football but not necessarily in that order.
He was the best and most committed teacher I ever worked with but picked up a terminal illness not long after retiring. Liverpool gave him a page in one of their match day programmes.

That’s mad. I don’t get it. But I suppose I don’t get the people I met at a Bruce Springsteen gig who used to follow him around on the tour so would go to multiple dates etc. Even the bands that I like, I’m not sure I would be bothered to do that.

We’re all just living for the weekend brother!
Mad alright. He was married but no family. Would see Liverpool around 15 times a year. I remember one weekend he told me he watched 6 games but none Liverpool as they were the Monday night game. The games revolved around future opponents in England and in Europe as well as clubs where Liverpool had players on loan.
He didn’t support Ireland but cared more about how Liverpool players got on during international break.
As I said previously he was the most professional teacher I ever worked with. Life just revolved around work, his wife, religion and Liverpool.
Maybe you are as well off keeping it simple.

Those midweek finals in 2005 and 2007 were iconic occasions. I was still in primary school for both of them but I heard of a couple of Footix ending up in Istanbul while their summer exams were on. Well worth skipping an Irish exam for.
