Formula One

I predict the Australian GP won’t go ahead.

A computer games sim player lands a seat in real life. Hope yet for all the football manager experts out there

Just to move a conversation to the correct place, the war tread isn’t appropriate.

@carryharry what’s you thoughs on haas’s future with them dropping the Russian sponsorship? I can’t see them making the grid without it and will struggle to find the money to replace it. I suspect andretti might buy them out since the FIA said they are not looking for applications for new teams. Nikita out and Herta in

Yeah, Andretti will step in I’d imagine and get huge backing from the States to do so.

It’s a team that staked everything on this years car so it’s a disaster for them.

Testing hasn’t gone to plan either. A few breakdowns but that can be attributed to ferrari rather than them. Ferrari customers always struggle with the engine. When was the the last time a ferrari customer won a race? Vettel at Toro rosso in 08? A legacy deal from the minardi days

What makes you think the money hasn’t been paid?

Wouldnt be the first time haas got burnt by a sponsor.

I bet we will see that car go fast today to drum up some sponsor interest. I wonder how much money Mick brings?

Mazepin will lose his seat once the money stops, he might get a few races depending on what has been paid.
Ferrari could throw the Italian Jesus into the seat and officially/unofficially buy the team. They definitely want a b team and seemingly regret not buying Sauber outright in 2017

Thats the more likely scenario. I say ferrari are already paying enough to have mick in the seat. I say mick brings a good bit of sponsorship based on his name alone. Not enough to keep a back marker on the grid. I expect nikita won’t be on the grid in Bahrain but it’ll be interesting if they can get investment and who goes in.

Antonio actually outperformed Kimi last year & appears to matured into a good driver.

We might finally see turkey in the dry this year, Sochi is a horrible track anyway

Is Portugal on the calendar?

Ferrari think a lot of him from his simulator days but he will never race for them, schwartsman is another option maybe but also russian

No, they don’t have the funding that turkey do though

Bring back sepang or a German GP. Rain at either race always entertains

The definition of high summer was watching the first eight laps of the West German/German Grand Prix at Hockenheim (the proper Hockenheim, not the circumcised version) before getting the bus into town and walking up to Croker for a knockout Dublin-Meath Leinster final in which Meath went in as slight favourites.

1995 was my particular favourite version of this, when Damon Hill spinning off at the first corner on lap 2 provoked a lot of discussion between different groups gathered at the bus stop who had witnessed it 20-25 minutes previously. Formula One was box office in those days.

The long straights were great but would have been very boring if ran over the last 10 years anyway. The new track has grown on me with a few decent races

I know nothing about Formula One now so am not in a position to argue technical points. I just know that the old Hockenheim was an aesthetic delight.
