France deserved to win that on the balance of chances but Deschamps wasn’t very impressive in this tournament. Too defensive in midfield at the start, the Ireland game forced him to improve things but they became predictable again by tonight and they couldn’t really get their midfield being creative tonight.
Maybe it was just tired legs from Griezmann but their shape tonight was wrong and they’d no inventiveness in front of the Portuguese defence.
