I have been contemplating this for a while and this seems an appropriate thread to put this to the forum. How do you clean white converse? I put my last pair, now deceased, in the washing machine before an while it improved them they came out a little grey. Any better techniques for getting them back to white?

When I was young you could buy a white dab on substance to white up your plimsolls. I suspect this has gone the way of metal tips for the sole of your shoe but it would be no harm to have a look in the hardware section of the supermarket.

I actually tried on something fairly similar today. They looked alright on the shelf, but ridiculous when they were on.
