I need a new winter jacket, can the likes of @TheUlteriorMotive, @Nembo_Kid etc please recommend some of this years style?
down jackets are great. Warm, light, compact. Try uniqlo for some examples (under ultra light down). North face do nice ones too. Get the ultra light down variety and you won’t look like a Michelin man
If you want something dressier peacoats are always a good call. Can spend as much as you like but look at the Schott ones as an example
If you can pull it off Topman have a great sheepskin coat - proper Del Boy style

What about tweed? A good Harris jacket will last you a lifetime - can wear it anywhere too.

Got a very nice Hilfiger down jacket in Best Menswear Dundrum a few years ago. Reduced to under €40…fantastic purchase. Can’t beat it for standing around at GGA matches in the winter.
If you get a jacket that is actually down then you should never be cold again.
The uniqlo ones are great value for about 70 euro.

Not great. Collar is awful and not really a pea coat.

In fairness to him John Lewis have described it as a pea coat when it is at best some reboot/reimagining of such and loses all the hallmarks and best bits of a peacoat. You don’t need to reimagine a classic - just need to do it well.
That’s the kind of thing Aaron Kernan wears as he desperately tries to stay in the GAA media limelight.

I treated myself to one of these last week from Zara, goes very well with skinny blue jeans and white nike air for that casual Saturday morning, having a latte look which I like a lot
