Funeral etiquette

The negative campaigning tactic of using Glas as your butt was the difference.

In fairness, you had the thick ignorant fucker vote sewn up, a huge demographic on this board.

There was an open goal and I went for it.

In relation to introducing yourself, Iā€™ve found that itā€™s become quite common for the person that you know to do the introducing to the rest of the bereaved or, at least the people in immediate proximity to them.

On one horrific occasion though, I was attending the funeral of the mother of a former Clare hurler who Iā€™d be friendly with. Heā€™d be known for his eccentricity and as I, and my two pals entered the funeral home, he let out a roar of ā€œhereā€™s the boys, nowā€ and proceeded to haul us by the arm around the room and introduce us to the entire grouping. Mortification ensued.

Whatā€™s the craic with speculating on cause of death at a funeral ?

Letā€™s say a fella died before his time and you met him in, say, the pub a few times.

Would it be ok to commiserate with his widow by saying ā€œSorry for your loss Mrs Bannon*, I presume it was the drinkā€ ??

If they were an open minded family it wouldnā€™t be a problem.

I see when it comes to funeral etiquette, Iā€™m quite closely aligned with @HBV. Good to know.

Wouldnā€™t a sticky name tag with your name scrawled in biro not be more effieient?

Lads, any of you ever have to do a eulogy at a funeral before?

No, but Iā€™m sure someone has said a few words.

I remember when the usual question on TFK was whether anyone had made a best man speech.

Time passes in a flash.

My dad went to a removal recently. Shook hands with all of the chief mourners before exiting in time honoured fashion. He realised the following morning that heā€™d got the wrong day and hence the wrong cadaver.
He didnā€™t then attend the correct removal that evening as he felt heā€™d done his bit.

Dunno flatty. This sounds like some classic Like-Fishing with a bullshit story. Is there anything else to substantiate your story before I can give it a Like?

No itā€™s true. Iā€™ll try and post up a sketch tomorrow if itā€™s quiet.

Itā€™s his logic I found amusing rather than the wrong funeral bit. That could happen to anyone.

Iā€™m still not convinced. Iā€™ve given this post a Like though, as an act of goodwill.

Itā€™s ok, we are still stuck on leaving cert points for new entrants

Jesus no funeral for 3 years. In limerick for 3rd one in 3 weeks

A young fella was killed in Laois last week off a motorbike, was reported in the press, a 75 year old woman was involved in the collision. Dont think there was anyone at fault, just one of those things. He was a rally nut, involved in a lot of events around Ireland and very well known in those circles. Kicked football with Mountmellick as well. This was the entrance to the graveyard this morning as he was laid to rest.
