The only vivid memory I have of a sympathizer at my fathers funeral was a fella I had been in school with, a settled traveler and I hadnāt seen him in a good few years, he approached me after we had carried the coffin to the hearse after mass, the entire head was tattoed and he was looking manky, but he shook my hand properly and told me he was sorry for my troubles etc, said something complimentary about my dad as well,
I was very glad he came, what he looked like made fuck all difference
In fairness to @padjo he finds it hard to stay clean for too long. Iām fairly sure he would have slept in a bush but thereās not a chance the suit was his
A girl I knew in the states a few years back had her sisters (early 20s)funeral streamed to her as she had no green card and wouldnāt chance goin back.
Was at a grand funeral there earlier. The gifts brought up were a picture of Jack with his favorite bull, a newspaper, the football from the 1952 county final and a bottle of whiskey. They sang the Wild Rover as they lowered Jack down and then we went across to the GAA club where we were all given a half one to toast Jack.
