Further Things That Are Wrong (Part 1)

Seven (7) mentions while I was sleeping, it must be some kind of record.

Here are my thoughts. It’s fascinating to read the thoughts of a bunch of white Irish lads living in Ireland moralizing on how a country thousands of miles away should deal with it’s history of racism (and yes it has a history of racism and racism still exists today). It might be more appropriate to consider how to deal with the history of oppression in their own country, but sure that would be a bit too difficult.

Since the time of slavery in the US Ireland has had two oppressors, the English and the Catholic church. What was done to Irish people by the English, including the 19th century genocide, far exceeds anything done to black people in the US. Based on the outrage on display in this thread, no Irish person should rest until all symbols of Englishness are erased from Ireland. Maybe start by fucking @Sidney back across the Irish sea. All statues of English people from history should be torn down, all place names with English connection changed, and English as a language officially banned and replaced by Gaelic. The English language after all was violently forced on Irish people against their will.

Moving along to the 20th century, the Roman Catholic church committed unspeakable crimes against Irish people, mostly innocent children, and covered it up for decades. Tear down all religious statues and churches or convert the churches to something useful.

@glasagusban, do you support the removal of the English language in Ireland and the blowing up of all religious statues in Ireland, and if not, why not?
