Do the FAI get no more money from the Government?
Not a like for like comparison.
That said Greyhound racing is dying a death and itâs entirely its own fault. Terribly run.
Horse racing at least gets people in and generates money for the economy. Employs a lot of people etc. And while it is a far outsized portion of the betting fund for what it gets. At least people bet on it.
The bookies wonât even take a bet on the dogs. Itâs real degenerate only stuff
Report Highlights Importance Of Greyhound Racing Industry To Irish Economy.
Itâs well invested money to make sure greyhound racing stays going. Thereâs lads in China betting like fuck on the dogs here. Itâs worth money to the exchequer

Fellas on here think the country runs on conkers Iâd say.
Lots of fellas employed at youghal to keep thr racing going and its profitable because of the SIS. Iâd a dog going last week and there was 50 people there of a Wednesday night just to watch the racing. 10 races. 60 dogs. Thats 60 dogs that were bred, reared, fed, trained and maintained by vets, each of those tasks contributing to jobs and the economy, before a bet was ever laid.
This government is trying to erode the fabric of rural Ireland. No horses, no dogs, no hunting. Let them fuck off and govern Dublin.

In any other country in the world besides Oireland and UK, horse and greyhound racing are self sustaining (or not, in which case they die out). The odd situation where the sport exist for the primary purpose of gambling but are not allowed ownership of their own gambling rights and revenue is why they have to go cap in hand to the government. Shit prize money too in comparison.

Nearly 30k at the Kerry national on a Wednesday in September.
The gaa couldnât get that crowd for Kerry and mayo during high summer in Killarney.
Racing truly is the sport of the people. Doesnât matter who you are or what you are youâll be welcomed at the races.

Point to point and coursing is where ireland is. The dog track and the race track as well
Greyhound racing generates money for the exchequer.
Horses, dogs and hunting is not the fabric of rural Ireland. Itâs poitin, the fiddle and an aul ceili. Your ideas might have come in with a British landlordâs fancies.
Youâre from fucking clare anyway
I think itâs around 29k jobs directly and indirectly created by racing.

I visited the Burren once as a child but I donât remember applying for citizenship.
Theyâll come for your fiddles once they are finished with racing.
Both greyhound and horse racing generate more money for the bookies, precious little of which finds its way back to the exchequer and dog and horse owners themselves. The set up is a cod. They should be taking a sizable cut of every euro bet on a race, not some charity from the government.

Put them all on the dole sure. Any business that struggled during covid, shut it down and fuck them all on the dole. Cull all the dogs and horses too while youâre at it.

They can have them, the newgens only use them for screeching. The Victorians do it better.
Gambling is worth a fortune to the exchequer.
Will you be watching Ireland in the rugby the weekend, Iâm sure that came with a landlord as well.
Whatever about it, Ireland. Rural Ireland loves itâs dogs and horses. Weâd be as well not losing the old ways too quick. We might need them
No one would miss horse racing or greyhound racing outside a very very small minority. And the dogs could no doubt survive anyway as a niche sport at a much smaller level and as a hobby.

Thatâs absolute bollocks. Youâre talking about a very small minority and it certainly doesnât require the investment just so a few cunts can bet on it.
