Could be a bit of a headache logistically.

Especially as theyā€™ll only sell you one pack at a time. (Thatā€™s the law here anyway).

Would make you sick.

Which would be a win win for them I suppose

Two on the mainland.
You couldnā€™t afford more than one pack at a time here.

We have mrs Oā€™Sullivan bringing home a small pharmacy from Spain twice a year. Most medication is one third of the cost here.

Poor woman coming home with 19 bottles of calpol strapped to her body

I suppose weā€™re not as sickly as the mainlanders. (I always buy cheap own brand ibuprofen in Boots or Superdrug when on the mainland. Itā€™s mad that Boots donā€™t sell their own brand ibuprofen here).

This time of year bringeth the wrath of the Taxman. Searching the van for old receipts and trying to go through the ā€˜filesā€™ for all the medical shite. Sending it off to the accountant hoping for a miracleā€¦ it never happens. The nervous wait til he comes back. All the time promising ā€˜never againā€¦ itā€™ll be different next yearā€¦ā€™

And then you head to the US and you can buy 1000 tablets of ibuprofen for $20 from Walmart.

On my last trip to SF I approached the counter with 1000 tablets each of both Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen (US Paracetamol), 100 pack of some drowsy antihistamine that doubles as a sleeping tablet and a 200 pack of Melatonin expecting a tonne of questions. Not a single one. I was told if I bought another tub of 1000 Ibuprofen I could get $5 off which I politely declined

Shur lookit.

Youā€™d have Peyton Manning selling you two large Papa Johnā€™s pizza for about $14.99 every Sundayā€¦ you wouldnā€™t get a jalapeno mayo dip for that price here. Weā€™re oppressed.

Supersize me

Iā€™m just imagining the reaction youā€™d get approaching a pharmacy counter in Ireland with 1000 tablets of anything aside from Vitamins. Theyā€™d have the Gardai called before you get to the till

They have them behind the counter now. We cant be trusted to have the out with the deodorant and bandages

Jeez, Iā€™ll be honest, Iā€™d be throwing you some quare looks myself.
1000 painkillers :flushed:

Our older 2 are old enough now that they can take a single tablet rather than the Calpol / Neurofen bottles. We wonā€™t get close to using them before their use by dates but Iā€™ll be there again in November and can stock up again. I tried the same in New York before but you canā€™t buy it there without a US State ID - it was somewhat reassuring that they have some control mechanism in place albeit fairly limited.

Sure they sell smokes in the chemist in the US. It is not a serious country

What an odd world. In this microcosm of a tiny forum my posts are not permitted. The ā€œnewā€ rule says I canā€™t have more than 3 posts as a new user. Mental stuff that free speech isnā€™t allowed. Says more about the people in charge here than me? No?

Iā€™m not a new user. Iā€™ve posted 7/8 replies to people about election winning likelihood. Posts are below.
