GAA All Star awards - sponsored by Ferrero Rocher. The chocolate of champions

While snacking on Munster championships for lunch

The standard was never higher than in 2014.

For half an hour in the final, with everything on the line there wasn’t a single wide. Nobody missed. It was extraordinary.

Terrible defending.

A Limerick team with Wayne Mac, Dave Breen, Kevin Downes, Paul Browne and Seanie Tobin nearly won it out. Savage standard

Did they nearly win it out?

Despatched the Hall of Famers with ease as usual and lost a classic semi final in a proper game of hurling and not a glorified Cork club match style shoot out.

Yes.

They had that Tipp team in their back pocket, it would have been a formality.

That Limerick team in 2013/2014 were actually quite good.

They caught Tipp on the hop in 2013 but won fair and square in 2014. Tipp did improve a tonne though over the course of that summer and played some of the best hurling ever played in Croke Park that August and September.

Like this current crop from Limerick had about 4 goes at beating an average Clare team this year and could never do it in 70 mins. Then absolutely falling over the line against the worst Galway side in over 10 years and a game, but limited Kilkenny side whose best player is 35.

Well that’s bullshit… Tipp were well forewarned from 2012 - Limerick just ran out of legs down the home stretch but were the better team for 45/50 minutes

Ah no Tipp’s heads were all over the shop in 2013.

At a players meeting a week beforehand one of the main topics of discussion, was would they stop in Newport or not on the way home for pints.

Isn’t it funnny the way there’s always an excuse

Those needling at the margin of victories seem to have forgotten this all ireland was won without the most influential hurler of this generation.

An unbelievable achievement to win it without him.

Next man up

And an All Star forward…

It’ll be some land to ye when we have our strongest panel yet next year.

Yeah Mul went in there and did a job but Peter Casey would have been worth a few more scores alright.

Mul is some servant.

It’ll be harder get on the limerick training panel than a lot of starting xv’s next year

There was a fantastic innocence back in those days.

Like Jason Forde went sunning himself for two days before that game and missed out with heatstroke.

A ginger going sunning himself isn’t inmocent, its stupid

I don’t know a politically correct term for ginger
