GAA All Star awards - sponsored by Ferrero Rocher. The chocolate of champions

Yeah I’d have Dan for that. He’s an animal, unbelievably consistent, can slot in at full back or anywhere across the HB line, and never gets caught out badly

William ODonoghue is the most underrated hurler in Ireland. Went back centre back after hannon went down and was immense after a bad half v galway. From that second half on he destroyed everything that moved. The man is absolutely unbelievable

He’s up there alright. I’d still give Dan the nod.

Shane is a great sort

What kind of nonsense award is “personality” of the year?

That seems to be the reason for all the plaudits. Shur plenty of dads were back WFH within two weeks of giving birth but not looking for any fanfare

Personality goes a long way.

I reckon everyone read it wrong initially, were stunned, didn’t do the math, and weren’t able to row back then.

Na WOD should be at six and Conlon gone with Kelly coming in.

Tj got the Tony Kelly consolation award this year

After a clean sweep of league, Munster & AI… 7 is a fairly meagre return.

Five for Kilkenny after being trounced in both a league and All-Ireland final is extremely generous.

Unreal for Byrnes and Hayes to both be selected four years in a row.

0-0 from play in the AIF for a second year in a row

That’s a soft one for TJ alright. It was evident all year that his legs were all but gone. It’s an exercise now in dividing up the spoils from the semi finals on. 2-3 for the beaten semi finalists, 8 for winners and 4 for losing finalist is more or less the formula now. 7-5 split Limerick v Kilkenny a bit unbalanced.

The likes of Lee Chin did more in Wexford’a relegation decider win than TJ did over the year. The days of players from the weaker counties getting an All Star on the basis of 1 or 2 Tour de France performances are long gone though.
