GAA All Star awards - sponsored by Ferrero Rocher. The chocolate of champions

There’s dark forces at work.

Brian Hayes is probably the player who has most to give out about, other than Leen.

I think most people assumed he’d pick up the other corner-forward spot. He had a couple of really good games (twice against Limerick) and was fine most of the rest of the time. Hego was very good up until the semi-final; bit of a stretch to give it to him inside but he did play a bit of time there, I guess.

Donnelly was very good in Leinster but was never getting it over Barrett, Harnedy or Fitz realistically.

Cian Kenny over Kelly would probably be more fair but that was never going to happen, in reality.

John Conlon is desperately unlucky imo

As Pikeman said the other day… there’s so many games played now before kockout begins we probably need to nominate earlier in the year and not put so much weight on the final.
A lot of Clare players probably didn’t perform to their best until the second half of the semi final. Or final. I fell Conlon was one of those. I thought Leen was probably one of those who did perform in Munster and waa the unlucky one.
But they’ll take their AI medal over a diddy personal award all day every day.

@Cheasty when in the history of GAA Allstars did one loosing semi finalist get four Allstars and the other get none?

Reaching the semi final via the Mickey Mouse Leinster championship hardly counts. Akin to Galway entering at the semi final stage all those years

-One of the greatest teams of all time
-beat the Champions twice in provincials
-lost twice to Cork in 2 of the best 3 games of the year
-Most people still think they are still the best team in the country

I wouldn’t begrudge the 4 lads the awards

Yeah its a sad state to be fair to see the mighty Cats scrimping and clawing around looking for end of year pats on the head. The most successful hurling county there is should be focusing on winning All Irelands and theyre reduced to looking for validation in November, thats not the kilkenny I know and admire.

Kk not really involved in any real barn burner of a game this year. Clare just slipped past them second half.

Can’t compare to the Munster Championship where you have the two All Ireland finalists, the greatest team of all time, a feisty Waterford side, and Tipp

The 2006 to 2015 Kilkenny team are far and away the best team of all time buddy

And they’d be laughing at lads looking for a pat on the head for John Donnelly and Cian Kenny

Kelly getting one is a bit of a joke. One the all time greatest performances in the all Ireland final, the appropriate award for that is, funnily enough, man of the match in the all Ireland final. Hegarty ahead of Gillane is nonsense too. Leen should have gotten corner back and Peter Duggan should have gotten one.

You couldn’t be handing out coveted All-Star awards to fellas who drew with Carlow.

I havent heard much moaning out of Kilkenny folk to be honest, it is more non kilkenny folk raising it to throw mud at them

Would we be as well of making the Leinster Championship a second tier competition going forward?

Roll it all into the Joe McDonagh or vice versa.
