GAA All Star awards - sponsored by Ferrero Rocher. The chocolate of champions

Noel Hickey was full back in 2003.

Lohan won HOTY didnt he?

Interesting that @Fat_Pox liked the post, there’s a man that would know

And Hegarty

Very different style players

Not really as corner backs, different in that Corcoran was better maybe?

Corcoran was only biding his time playing in the corner . One of the greats of course. But Sean Finn is a serious defender.

You’re after taking the wind out of my sails there a small bit, we better leave it at that

Well crafted post alright.

This post should be bookmarked for posterity.

Finn is absolutely unreal. He schooled some very good Tipp forwards yesterday.

There was two awards back in those days. The Texaco one was the more sought after one from what I remember and Seanie Mc won it in 95 with Lohan getting the other award which was the precursor to the GPA player of the year.

Jamesie won both in 97

Absolutely and shortlist for HOTY I’d imagine also

Hego & Finn have certainly been our two best players this season so far. Mulcahy & Lynch probably next in line. But if we lose a semi, we’d be lucky to get 1. Finn would be the favourite in that situation as there aren’t a host of top class corner-backs.

No one is current within an asses roar of an all star or Y/HOTY .

I’d agree, Wexford and Limerick are probably certain of one each but it depends how it plays out
Gearoid Hegarty and Rory O’Connor front runners for me

Diarmaid O’Keeffe is a strong contender too.

Bill Cooper is surely only an injury away from getting one.

AI winners and runners up will get approx 11 between them
Losing semi finalists around 3 between them
And perhaps one from outside to a losing quarter finalist

So Aussie won’t be getting an all star this year you reckon?

Finn, Crummy, Chin, Hegarty, Noel McGrath, TJ Reid, Callinan and Gillane are front runners for All Stars at this point.
