Thatās one thing overlooked with him indeed - the hero shots he hits that werenāt really on. You get one or two and thatās what people remember, but the ones that go wide and drop into the goalie (even worse) are forgotten.
possible allright
receeding hairline next year id say
Weāre talking this year, though. I was pretty cynical about ye this year up until ye won the All-Ireland itself.
Iām a pacifist, enjoy your break
Think Keegan is the right call, though I thought theyād never make it - you look at how he did from the quarter finals on, what his man scored on him (in fact, he was outscoring the men he marked), and I think he did enough. Fenton was good but I thought the Mayo lads had the midfield the second game.
As for the hurling, when Tip have thumped every crowd in sight, including the all-ireland champions and Waterford themselves, itās a bit ridiculous not to give it one of 'em. Callanan for me.
Thatās a bit contradictory. Dublin have won back to back all Irelandās, back to back leagues, umpteen Leinsterās so surely one of them of them deserve it?
Philly outscored his men and wasnāt awarded it last year
FWIW Iām not that bothered about Keegan getting it. Means fuck all really when youāve 2 Celtic crosses at a minimum
Keegan and Callanan were the players of the year in my estimation.
Gleeson is the greatest hurler of all time.
After joe canningā¦ THE greatest.

Youāre the leader of the Gleeson hater club so youāre conflicted butty. I hope you are sucking it up tonight. Have another donut.

Canning was never HOTy.
Yeah, I knew my original comment could be seen that way as both Waterford and Mayo didnāt win it out. Like I said in my other comment, itās not hard to see why Aussie was given it, and at the end of the day, it is most definitely down to a blend of both individual and collective achievement, as are the major awards in most sports.
And by that metric is where I validate what I said - for me both Keegan and Mayo outweigh what Waterford and Aussie did. Weāre judging on this years results so back-to-back doesnāt really play.
And FWIW, I thought Philly definitely should have won it last year, and like you said, Iām bothered who won it really.
Mullach_Ide:Or Cathal Barrett out-hurling him in the Munster Final or was it the displays that earned Waterford a draw and a defeat in the two AI Semi Finals he played?
Going by that logic Declan Browne would never have won an all star because his team rarely won. Gleeson had a better year than either of the Tipp boys and deserves the award. Tipp won the one that really matters.
Slight difference between an All Star and hurler of the year, Seamie Callanan scored 9 points from play (0-13) in the AI final, when was that last done? He also scored more than the Waterford team combined in the Munster Final (1-11). Scored 0-08 v Cork and 1-06 v Limerick. Lads saying he had a quiet enough year up to the final!

Yeah buddy. Suck it up. Ozzie has had a great year. The best a Waterford hurler can hope for.

Donāt worry. If he sticks at it and keeps improving heāll win his award yet.

But Mayo won fuck all. If weāre judging on resultsā¦
Anyway, as I said I really donāt care. Iām getting into Nembo territory with this, so for everyoneās sake, Iāll leave it

Iām sure heāll bring his training gear on the team holiday to Miami.

Thatās the spirit. Chin up. It might happen for him next year.

Ooft. Knock out blow.
I donāt hate him, mate. Iām glad your happy with his award.
