Think Keegan is the right call, though I thought theyâd never make it - you look at how he did from the quarter finals on, what his man scored on him (in fact, he was outscoring the men he marked), and I think he did enough. Fenton was good but I thought the Mayo lads had the midfield the second game.
As for the hurling, when Tip have thumped every crowd in sight, including the all-ireland champions and Waterford themselves, itâs a bit ridiculous not to give it one of 'em. Callanan for me.

Gleeson was comfortably the best hurler in the country this year. Callanan was quiet by his standards apart from the final. Maher had a good year but never reached Gleesonâs heights. The best hurler should win the Hurler of.the Year. Not the best hurler on the All Ireland winning team.
Gleeson was outrageously good this year. If he keeps going at this rate I think he will be the greatest of all time.

Gleeson put in a few incredible individual performances this year that youâd normally be lucky to see once every few years. Callanan had an excellent final but was average enough apart from that.
Ah we wonât begrudge it to them. Sure itâll shorten the winter for them. Iâd say sheamie wonât give a fuck either way. Heâll have a right crack at it again next year.
Like the 9 wides he struck against Wexford? Or Cathal Barrett out-hurling him in the Munster Final or was it the displays that earned Waterford a draw and a defeat in the two AI Semi Finals he played?

Austin can only do so much. Its a 15 man game, not a 1 man game. If Waterford had a few more even half as good as him, theyâd be All Ireland champions.
Yeah and to be fair, itâs not hard to see why they gave it to Aussie. Heâll be the poster boy for hurling for years to come.
Ah in fairness I wouldnât have begrudged it to Seamie. 9 points from play in an All Ireland is a feat we will hardly see again.
