GAA betting 2024/25

Brian Duignan sole top scorer in the league final is 9/4 is more than big, I’d have if around 6/4 or 13/8 max.

These bets are generally a match bet between both free takers.
Duignan only scored 1-4 v Waterford the last day but missed a penalty and a good few frees in poor conditions.
His other scores were 0-13, 0-10, 0-11 & 0-15 in the other games.

Now I know Bennett is obviously likely to score a nice bit too but if Waterford are winning it may be from play also. He is 1.44 which is probably too short in this market, I’ve 2 points on. BS price.

Dan Bourke 20/1 MOTM 0.5pts. If Offaly are to win he has to go to town, Mitchell is 12/1 and id have Bourke way ahead of him.

who has these prices up?

Boyles

I’ve already gone in at 7/1 but it’s not 5/1 which is too big for any inter county team bar KK to defeat Tipperary’s current team.

Big thing for Tipp is they have Steven O Brien back who is still very good when on the pitch, whether he lasts 70 is a big question. Tipps good form in the league is based upon Sean O Connor being available which he is not, that evens things up significantly.

Take the first couple of rounds away and the form of both teams is very similar, you could argue Waterford’s is slightly better given they beat London fairly comfortably whilst Tipp lost.
They were leading down the straight v Longford and competitive for much of the game v Wexford. They were similarly well beaten by in form Limerick but they’ve some good scorers in Dunwoody and Conor Murray who’s excellent at this level.

It’s simply too big a price in a two horse race. I’ve 3 points on the win @ 7/1 (would still not put ppl off @ 5/1) and added another pt tonight on the famous TFK HTFT @ 16/1 with bet365.

Are Cork better than they were last year?

I know the gap between Division 2 & Division 4 is quite large but I’m looking at the handicap in the Cork vs Limerick game, which is 11 points.

Cork beat Limerick by 11 in the Munster Championship last year after Limerick came in on the back of an absolute shocking league. I know Limerick were in Division 4 this year and maybe people think this has skewed the view but Limerick 100% have a better panel this year than they did last year. They just have more quality in the group.

So, have Cork stepped up from last year? Cork ended up beating Limerick by those 11 points, got within 3 of Kerry in the Munster semi-final, beat Donegal in the round robin (I find those matches hard to judge) and ended up losing to Louth.

They finished around the same place in Division 2 last year.

So I 100% think Limerick are better than they were last year which would make me strongly lean towards them on the handicap.

The one complicating factor is the new rules. Are the margins between the stronger & weaker sides going to be even larger? I don’t think I saw Cork in the league; how are they at kicking two points? I did see that Chris Óg Jones was banging in goals early on in the league.

The new rules definitely leave it open to a hole opening. Cork are generally a running team from what I know.
Some of the turnovers Limerick conceded could be punished harshly and you’d doubt Childs can dominate like he did v Wexford.

Did Limerick do a Sunday club after their big win?

Absolutely not. The opposite in fact

Cork are as likely to score goals as two pointers. Mark Cronin and Brian O’Driscoll are the only long range point kickers we have, very little scoring in the half forward line. Panel is strong though should push on once the bench is used. Staying away from the handicap and going over 2.5 goals at 4/6

Donegal could put 20 points on Derry imo

from what I’ve heard Limerick don’t give a fuck about this game

A first half red card is never ideal but it sounds like they acquitted themselves as best they could afterwards. From the reports, it sounded like there was a little bit of misfortune afterwards, missed a goal chance before half-time, hit the post twice and Cork hit us on the break then.

Disappointing to lose but I would say we’re in alright shape going into the Tailteann.

Great to see such ambition :ok_hand:

Infairness tis pure bollox acting having them out the week after the league final.

That’s a fact.

Ended up going into this. Tipp were far superior until they took off Steven O Brien who was the main difference between the team scoring 1-9 I reckon.

Tipp were ten up and coasting but took off a few players when Waterford completely took over and scored a goal followed by two 2 pointers. They also missed a goal and two other 2 point efforts in the last ten minutes.

I’d a bigger stake on Waterford +7 which covered my losses on the stakes above.

Strange game in the sense that Tipp were probably 10 points better but were kind of hanging on at the end. If Tipp got O Connor back motoring 100% along with O Brien around the middle they might keep it competitive v Clare.

Conor Murray was outstanding for Waterford and they’d a good 6 from Roanmore but they’d a few passengers that were exposed by Tipp.

Not the worst way to spend a Saturday evening along with approx 700 others. Baffling how the Munster council wouldn’t allow it to be played in Clonmel.

1,500 tickets were sold WLR said which sounded far fetched at the time. 1,017 was confirmed attendance.

I didn’t count them now. I’d say there was 300-400 associated with the primary game at HT.

Do you fancy Tipp tomorrow 7/2 is a biggish looking price? They are +5 at evens on the handicap.

My own auld lad (who doesn’t bet much) gave me a score today to put on Tipp at that price and I’ve went in to lift the cup & -2 for 1.5 pts & 1pt HT FT with Bet 365 @ 10/1.

Both of us and everyone in Tipp is fearful of a hammering tomorrow when the red roar comes from the PUC crowd but I’ve begun thinking Cork are a tad overrated. Their league record is:

-Beat Wexford B
-Lucky to draw with Limerick
-Beat a depleted KK by 3
-impressive hammering of Clare but Clare were brutal on the day especially Cleary & Conlon at 3/6.
-Lost to Tipp, I know they were missing a good few but they still lost
-Beat a rancid Galway team who played without a half back line and Mannion at fb. Lost the shot count in this game 37-34.

On their team selection I once again could see that half forward line either going to town or struggling aerially. I’m surprised Roche/Dalton are not starting for their workrate & ball winning ability.
Twomey has had a great league but he has limitations and there’s a sneaky feeling in the back of my head that Niall O Leary is not the new Sean Finn.
Look none of this matters if Fitzgibbon/Barrett/O Mahoney start hurling downhill v us but Tipp have a good record in finals v Cork recently especially with Cahill at the helm.

I’ve also had small bets on Jake Morris to score a goal, 2 goals and 3 goals at fancy prices with Boyles. Look, I think he is a frustrating player but a bit like Lar Corbett he has it. There’s going to come a day he bangs in a hat trick imo and I want to cash in at 100/1 or thereabouts when that’s the case.

The big factor in all of the above is the crowd and it could be a long evening if it’s 1-4 to 0-1 after ten minutes but at the above prices I’m happy to support Tipp with my few shillings as well as my voice tomorrow.
