The rumours must be true so

Aidan O Connor 4/1 to be first point scorer seems generous

€100 on a motm bet, Christ above. You must have plenty of it to burn. Enjoy the week.

Any lad betting like that would make you wonder. That horse race betting thread of his, in profit?

Cathal o Neill was fair lucky to win mom.

At the game it didn’t occur to me that he could get it. I’d have nominated Byrnes, Lynch and Hegarty. Scoring 1.4 in a final is good going though.

I thought Gillane was motm by a mile and I had Byrne’s (and Mike Casey) backed.

Scored four. Created three goal chances including the scored one.

Had them on toast

CON had a great game but he did some silly things too. He’s a great engine though on top of the wrists

Kyle, Byrnes, lynch and gillane were probably all ahead of him.

It is probably better suited for the Tipperary GAA thread but the outright betting for the championship looks all sorts of wrong to me. I have already been on Kiladangan at 10s from a value perspective and after getting hammered by Borris in the North semi final and a plethora of injuries this does not look as wise yet. They have a big round 1 fixture v Roscrea this weekend.

On the other teams, I would have Loughmore as clear favs as they are going for 3 in a row and won the mid final AET.
The team they defeated that day, Holycorss are favourites at 5/2 baffles me. There a very talented outfit but nowhere near that price, maybe someone has ploughed in a five figure sum. You might say they drew the mid final but Loughmore bossed much of that game in my book. There forward line is hugely skilled, fast but still very young/light for a team favoured to win a championship.

After that, you have Nenagh who I rate but obviously have baggage next in line and a plethora of teams in between 6 and 14/1.
The bookies seem to have totally forgotten about Borris-Ileigh at a huge 20/1. They are recent North champions and have quietly brought through some very good young players like Patrick Ryan, Tom Delaney and Jack Bevans. Critically, Jerry Kelly is back from abroad, hes going to average 0-4 from play and some other assists. JD Devanney and Eddie Ryan were the new kids on the block when they won the munster club and I think are now pushing on again. Dan McCormack is back at full back, in his brother Paddy they have a player capable of scoring goals at any moment on his day.
The majority of the team has the experience of winning so it won’t phase them in the stadium and they are gauranteed a preliminary QF after winning the mid.

I would have them at 8/1 max on my own book. I have invested 2pts EW on them to bring Dan Breen back.

They have shortened a bit since the odds were first published

Man of the match betting seems to be a popular bet in these parts.

Who would you say is our biggest loser as of 10pm last night for Kerry vs Mayo ??

I’m going to have a wild guess and say either of the two keepers at huge prices? Shane Murphy is 33s.

Its a market where there might be an edge if the game is on TG4 and you know in advance who the commentator is going to be but on RTE now, it seems to be picked by a combined panel which makes it way harder.

When Nicky was doing co-comms on Sky, and if Waterford were playing/won the game, he’d always give it to De Burca as he coached him in UCD. If Cork were playing/won he’d give it to Harnedy because he loved his workrate. There was a particular game v Clare in 2021 when Harnedy might have scored one point, drove 5 wides, but ‘worked hard’.

Most of these co-comms have all their friends told beforehand who they are going to pick and it can lead to some farcical decisions.

Few lads will be seething if your bet wins

One prominent ex Kerry footballer was taken off Sky Sports duties as one of the Irish bookies had complained about his MotM selections and the attached betting patterns.
