Actually a much better social life than before, that is one of the best things about the split season. In the past you’d have to plan around things that might happen, now players know when they can and cannot go on holidays at the start of the year.

Monaghan are a team past their best unfortunately. I’d steer clear of it if I was Fitzmaurice.

Utterly sensational and left field managerial rumours today. Never would have envisaged Jason Sherlock to Monaghan. Colm O’ Rourke for Meath I wouldn’t have expected either but I quite like it. It’ll draw a bit of attention anyway. Similar to Davy in the hurling, every Irish Mammy will now know that O’ Rourke is Meath football manager. On the surface you’d imagine O’ Rourke would be out of touch with a gang of lads in their 20’s but he is a secondary school principal after all and had success with Simonstown Gaels back around 5/6 years ago.
