GAA Managerial Merrygoround Thread

The turnover in Managers from Christy Ring downwards in hurling is something like 60%+ managers just doing 1 year tenures. Generally it becomes a ‘ah Jesus so we get nothing and the footballers get everything’ type situation that managers hate obviously.

What’s Critchley’s role these days?

He’s in the senior backroom and part of the coaching committee iirc.

He’s writing another book actually, some man.

Big Davy Power perhaps?

This is local work for local people. We wont even take a Kerry man. There, I said it.

What if they promised an O’Se or better

Ha, we dodged Darragh once, or he dodged us, thanks to Shaggy iirc @Kid_Curry

Why isn’t Hughie stepping up and putting something back into the county?

Like Canavan he’s keeeping back from the big job due to his sons involvement

I’d take Sugrue back but I presume the ship has sailed too far.
I don’t envy the selection committee.
And I certainly don’t envy whoever winds up with the job.

Is the current Offaly manager who trained Port from Laois or Offaly?

Tessio would take it I’d say.

He’s an offaly man, gracefield.

You would by God.

Eventually the role of inter county manager will become unfillable.

Madness.

History would determine it has to be Ray Dempsey

A Beano, Higgins, Sue Ramsbottom dream team. The people demand it

Offaly. Well, Gracefield. Martin has managed sides to 5 Laois County Titles, including Stradballys defeat of the 10 in a row chasing Portlaoise side. He was a no brainer, but perhaps he had too much brains to go for it.

Beano was in with Billy for a few months and went off the deep end and walked out. We all thought he just sadly took a bad turn, but maybe listening to Billy drove him back to the drink.

Joe’s forays into management havent gone well sadly.

Sue is busy with the Timahoe U12s. Her young wans are fliers.

Bump.
