Gaa split season, killing Meath football since 2011

Club championship in April with the current weather is laughable. Teams going into matches with 2 at most league games and having to train on astro turf pitches would be some joke.

Yeah Cork beating Kerry and Kildare beating Dublin will happen about once every 20 years.

The different formats lads are coming up with are more and more ridiculous. Easy from the town end terrace/cheap seats.
I really enjoyed the world cup round robins in Qatar last year.

Thank you.

If you are going with this split season nonsense, do you not find it laughable that inter-county players have their heaviest workload in the muck of the winter months and are doing the heavy lifting of the championship in spring? It’s meant to be a summer sport.

Tyrone v Westmeath was fascinating enough in that group too. The John Heslin free that could have knocked Tyrone out almost felt like a Ye Old qualifier. Westmeath never feared Tyrone. Gave them an awful fright in 2008 as well.

They are getting well recompensed for their efforts with free dinners, free gear, expenses, free cars and all sorts of unseen/unspoken perks

A reverse split season would actually be worth trying.

It was a good listen on radio alright but the setting was awful as a television spectacle and in reality Tyrone were miles off being All-Ireland contenders so it wasn’t a game of substance that affected how things would go at the business end.

Bar Galway v Mayo which was a local rivalry and live on the telly on a Sunday afternoon the last 12 games were dead ducks as well in terms of public interest, they might as well not have been on.

Showing your true colours now. Club pitches empty for June, July, August would be a scandalous idea.

In GPA survey 87% of intercounty players asked were in favour of split season, this thread is also full of a load of muppets with far too much time on their hands.

I wouldn’t know mate. I dont play inter county.

Not sure how that would work. It would mean starting club championships in March probably with All-Ireland club finals maybe in early August with inter-county All-Ireland finals in November or December.

With the exception of a small minority most county players are finished in September and have 7 or 8 werks off. Never read about that mind.

Na run the clubs through till the august bank holiday.

Have back door only. Start September 1st you’d have it wound up by the October bank holiday.

Would cut out all pro nonsense and give more counties a chance.

Your time windows are all out of whack.

Most clubs would have given up the ghost by the end of May.

There’s also the inter-county leagues. It makes no sense to play them in January to March and then have no inter-county action until September.

Nobody in short-sleeved t-shirts adds a new dimension to the debate. Didn’t realise O’ Dwyer was in with Down.

No need for the league. Takes up way too much time.

No one will be playing GAA in 10 years
