Then there is no club action until early August until the All Ireland Finals are done. Round 5 of the Wexford senior hurling championship was the evening of the All-Ireland football final between Kerry and Galway in late July 2022. County footballers like Eoghan Nolan and Glen Malone would’ve had to sell their All-Ireland tickets due to the crucial final round of hurling fixtures.

Limerick take off tipp and then you’ll have the scenario of Waterford finishing Tipp and the round robin being done by the Sunday of the may bank holiday.

That just isn’t good for anybody or the great game of hurling.
