Gaa split season, killing Meath football since 2011

Im proposing way less inter county season.

Iā€™d like something akin to rugby season but given we have two codes you could still have inter county games every weekend for the bulk of the summer.

The cost of running these inter county sides is gone out of control and are we really getting value for money?

In hurling we had one great game at senior level yet the clubs are waiting 9 months for championship to come around in late August. That might work for two or three years but people realise itā€™s a cod soon enough.

I thought you said county players were as thick as shit

Most of them are because most of them havenā€™t thought about the issues as a whole in relation to how they affect the GAA as a whole.

Stackā€™s contribution there is one of the more thoughtful Iā€™ve heard from the perspective of a player. Heā€™s been going 18 months without a break. Conor Glass and some of the other Glen lads have been going for much longer than that without a serious break.

Where is the respite for players?

Theyā€™re amateurs, they can take off anytime like a lot of them already do.Nothing stopping any lad hanging up his boots for a year.

I do wonder is that where we are going.

Feb to sept inter county season with a mirrored club campaign.

I kind of straight knock out club championship in October.

A lot of lads especially from the so called weaker counties have taken time out especially since COVID.Theyve figured out thereā€™s more to life than slogging all winter and spring to get bet by 20 PTS in the championship. But life goes on.

Itā€™s absolutely insanity this has happened

:grin: your very ratty today lad.For a fella whoā€™s probably never laced a pair of boots you have all the answers. The Gaa will never die, thereā€™ll always be lads looking to play.

The GAA will wither away and die a slow death if lads like you have your way.

With supposed friends like you it doesnā€™t need enemies.

Next man up. As is always the case.

What about maybe growing the games? Like every other sport has to do bar soccer?

Heā€™s right to be far. If Podcasts etc didnā€™t exist thereā€™d actually be nothing

When did the teams do their press nights?

Extremely low key build up and itā€™s all very sad but you donā€™t even have time to digest the weekends results. Itā€™s nearly like Dublin v Galway didnā€™t happen.

Hail the split season!

It fucking happened alright
