Do soccer teams need to be training, just jouer?

He said himself he wasnt near good enough compared to jason knight

Rural ireland folk are shit at pro sports

For sure and he wasnā€™t but he hadnā€™t the hours put in Knight has and athletically, he clearly has something plus other intangibles. Pro football is the hardest game in the world to break into, these lads are 1 percenters Knight included but we need to look at this from a lot of angles. I watched about 3 years of them conceding the same goal from the edge of the box because the boys in midfield were too bollixed to get out. We are missing something.

Precisely. Leave the soccer to the townies. Weā€™ll stick with the GAA. And everyone be happy with that

Itā€™s funny, take out Keane. Holland, Kinsella, Carsley, Kilbane, all English products. Last set of midfielders we had that could really mix it was Keith Andrews and Whelan. Thatā€™s a major issue.

Bar Stephen Ireland and Wes in the last 20 odd years itā€™s a waste land.

Wes more than anyone suffered for playing with lads who couldnā€™t hang off the ball.

Edit, Andy Reid

Is the NBA not the hardest to make? Sorry now for being argumentative

Interesting one, probably is as its only 5 but every fella gets a crack off soccer nearly worldwide. I remember that college chap Jimmer who was hitting 3s for fun in D1 college and couldnā€™t get a touch in the NBA when drafted. Itā€™s savage.

My point really through the Kenny years is that Ireland are producing the same average technician/towny player around midfield for years when what is needed is a Declan Rice type powerhouse with a bit of cut and a sense of timing in there that you might find in the GAA.

Molumby is that type of player and heā€™s miles off it.

For me a David Clifford type, with his size, and the way he can move and create seperation from defenders, could probably play any sport. Basically a 6ft2 lad who can move like that, any sport if they play enough they are inevitable nearly.

Tidy on the ball but has no power, no ability to get away from opponents and create seperation to do what he wants to do. Like a Mayo inside forward in a tight game.

Is Molumby a big kid? I know heā€™s from Waterford

No he wouldnt. Not athletic enough.

Of all the Gaelic Footballers out there, Mannion is the one who to the naked eye would have been best suited to making it but he couldnā€™t cut it with the UCD reserves cc @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy

Heā€™s big but headless and technically not good enough for International level.

The blondie lad probably didnā€™t play enough soccer. I mean what we need is those easy athletes, the Brian Fenton types. In EPL terms at Ireland level, the Sander Berge or Phillip Billings type, bit strong boys that can cover ground and play a bit, the Limerick hurling model.

PƔdraig Amond mate.

Just speaking from the part of the country Iā€™m from a big potential issue is alot of the same people do the coaching in underage Hurling, Football and Soccer and might decide to drop 1 or the other purely out of time. Underage players will adapt, at adult has the potential to be carnage in areaā€™s where there is GAA/ Soccer crossover.

Totally incorrect information, Iā€™d say Mark Canham has never heard of David Clifford or Cian Lynch.
