That was his peak alright. Was unmarkable. Lar was out inj most of that time too
I was talking to a current county footballer yesterday who was telling me he is massively in favour of the split season.
Inter County players are one cog in a very big wheel.
If players (even at club level) had their way, theyâd ensure all their Championship games were fixed for early afternoon on Saturdays.
But they are not all fixed for early Saturday afternoon because administrators know that for the overall benefit of the GAA, games need to played at times suitable for the wider GAA Community - i.e. Sundayâs much of the time.
People unfortunately donât have the concentration for the games anymore. These 1-28 to 34 points in hurling are incredibly boring.
Itâs the same with Gaelic football a mix of rugby and basketball. Constant action with a hooter thrown in.
Fixing the Munster final for a Saturday Iâm sure suited the Limerick and Cork players better than a Saturday. Conditions are cooler and you have a full Sunday to recover (drink and puck balls at cows).
A Munster hurling final at 6pm on a Saturday is an abomination to those who value tradition however. It just automatically downgrades it.
There has been a massive debate in the AFL for years about the timing of the Grand Final. All the media types want it moved away from 2:30pm to a twilight (4:30ish) or night game (7-7:30ish). They insert all the buzzwords weâre familiar with from similar GAA debates like âprogressâ and âchangeâ.
But the public doesnât want this and so far the public has managed to win out, as it has again this year.
Change is grand as long itâs making things better. Change when youâre taking away something of real value or cheapening it is bad. Certain things you need to be steadfast on.
These people would repaint the Mona Lisa if given the chance.
I wrote this on Tuesday. On Wednesdayâs Second Captains podcast, Paul Flynn referred to Peadar OâCofaigh-Byrne having âGoGoGadget Armsâ.
Hi Flynner.
Your state of flow is glorious.
Devane got a late goal in 2005 against Limerick, Redser came on and scored a goal as well, finished a draw, Tipp won the replay after extra time in a deluge. Donât think he played the 06 game where Kelly went to town.
Was Diarmuid Fitzgerald on Sheedyâs panel any year?
08 and 09
âBumperâ crowds expected today and tomorrow and a sell out next sunday. Seems like the new calendar might be starting to gain a foothold.
Anyone selling tickets for the matches tomorrow, please send me on a pm thank you gentlemen.
Sunday is a sellout - down to the Nally Stand for availability
Ticketmaster cunts kept kicking me out during the week f-them
Check tomorrow morning. Thatâs what Iâll be at as well.
The way all Ireland final day is going these days theyâll probably be playing it on the Saturday evening before
Be fucking great to get rid of the Artane Boys Band finally.
Would Armagh fella not just have soloed and goed straight from the free then though?
You canât solo and go inside the 21.
Could Rafferty have done a kickout pass to himself at some stage like what Connor Gleeson did v Dublin and actually tried to do with the very last kickout last week when the hooter had gone?
