Why should it matter?
Dublin v Meath 1991 was a Leinster preliminary round tie. Dublin and Meath played each other in Leinster quarter-finals in 2005, 2007 (draw and replay) and 2009. Those games attracted 81k, 78k, 82k and 74k.

It should matter because they introduced a new thing called the round robin in order to get senior county teams more championship matches, ensure there is a more fair and equal route to the knock out rounds and determine who plays who in the knock out rounds.
These matches are likely to have smaller crowds than knock out matches.
Also we know Dublin used to draw huge crowds and dont now it’s very debatable whether that is due to the split season or not.
#narrative
I have certain reservations about the style of play being revealed an hour before throw in. It’s most unlike McGuinness to act in this manner as I’ve pegged him as a man of conviction who decides on a plan of action and informs his troops accordingly. Kavanagh may be telling a porky here.
Yea but the first name that should come into your head is Gooch cooper . He was as good as anyone ever was in that 30 mins. Then cian o Sullivan moved back and smoked him second half
He could be. However, worth remembering that Cassidy was dumped mere months before for breaking the omerta. Kavanagh mentioned the phones being taken from the lads before the news was given to them.
I dont know,im sure ive heard McGee tell the same story. Also that McGuinness took all their phones off them as well and put them in a bag.
Thought it was pretty much accepted that happened. They had of course practiced for it as part of a gameplan within a game, but not for a second did they think he’d implement it for a full 70 minutes in an All Ireland semi final.
Think it was that morning as well, rather than an hour beforehand.
It was a ballsy play cotton.
But one that ruined football for the next 15 years.Thats what Jim will be remembered for imo.Maybe not in Donegal.
It certainly didnt help football, but the road had been set in the 00s by his Ulster counterparts, he just ramped it up to 11.
The GAA should have done something sooner about it though. When we saw Ciaran Kilkenny handpassing stats move toward 1000 for a first half, that shoulda been the warning sign.
Let’s never take this clowns opinion on anything seriously ever again.
The music is beyond horrendous.

The only piped music at Munster hurling finals in future will be the Vertigo era U2 music piped through the PA at such a deafening volume of courics it is inaudible.

What is your point?
The playing of “Let’s Dance” before throw in is possibly the most cringey thing in Irish sports
The music at full time on Sunday was terrible. The Script ffs.
No sight nor sound of Slievenamon or anything Tipp related. Even Glory Days would have done.
No issue blaring out KIlleagh on Saturday night though.

A truly bizarre selection. Almost ruined last year final.
No issue blaring out KIlleagh on Saturday night though.
Where did this dirge arrive out of all of a sudden?

It’s horrific, that and Seanie McGrath making a bizarre reference to Mumford and Sons in his column it makes me want Tipp to win the final.

Someone who was in the Lower Cusack Stand told me they couldn’t hear the music at the final whistle as the celebrations were so wild and boistrous
I dont mind Trouble with a Capital T followed by Lets Dance coming on as the teams emerge for the second half.
They’ve got to do better at Full Time though for Tipp.
