Id say Joyce couldnāt care less about the league. They made the AI final after cruising through Division 2 in 2022, Dublin won the AI after waltzing through Division 2 last year and it didnāt stunt Derrys progress either. The injury list is something that will be bothering him though.
Anyone who does these days genuinely wants their heads examined
Make an exception for Monaghan. Itās unlikely they will ever be AI contenders so preserving Division 1 status is their main aim each season.
Monaghan are the jewel in footballs crown.
PJs army will surprise the naysayers when it matters most. Just like Ireland in the egg and spoon there tonight.
Bad news about Kevin Cooney. Definitely a loss for the hurlers.
Galway manager Henry Shefflin confirmed after his sideās 4-31 to 0-12 win over Westmeath that Kevin Cooney looks set to be out for four to five months after suffering a hamstring injury in the Walsh Cup
Donāt see anything other than a loss tomorrow. Hope Iām wrong.
Think we need to unearth a few forwards in both codes. So Iām actually pleased to see the two connies starting in both corners.
Must have torn it really badly. Thatās a very long time.
Following gone from the hurling panel apparently.
Alex Connaire
Martin McManus
Greg Thomas
Sean OāHanlon
David Concannon
Oisin Salmon
Adrian Prendergast
Were they dropped or did they walk?
A lot of chaff there
Think they cut the panel.
Surprised Connaire and McManus were cut. Especially given Kevin Cooneyās injury.
That OāHanlon looked a decent, rangy half-forward for UL. I suppose it is a big step up to intercounty.
Yeah, think he hit 1-6 for them last week.
I heard Greg Thomas was being kept. Hopefully youāre correct or weāre in serious bother.
Heard the same. Not sure if heās mobile enough for elite level IC hurling. Maybe iām being a bitten harsh though.
Surprised Connaire is gone, seems very mobile and potential to develop physically.
Iām not sure McManus or Thomas have quick enough hurling.
OāHanlon looked good on a UL team playing downhill this far. Big difference inside in Galway training marking the likes of Fintan Burke.
Itās early enough to cut anyone but youād imagine that heās had a word with the lads cut to tell them where to improve and that theyāll be in his thoughts.
I was talking to the mother of a player a while back whoās brother got dropped. She intimated that it made things a bit difficult at home, as you can imagine.
Figures here
Interesting team. Looking forward to watching Gavin Lee this year. Hopefully himself and Killeen (outstanding prospect IMO) will kick on now.
Lee and o shea very good hurlers. Didnāt OāShea do all his underage hurling full forward?
Does John Cooney have the mobility for wing forward?
