Mickey Graham confirmed but going completely under the radar is that Corofinâs Dave Morris has also joined as a coach.

Joyce must have been convinced by Brady on the podcasht singing Dave Morrisâs praises with Turlock for the last few months.
Iâm convinced by Brady anyway
He cost a few pound according to Brady
I think Morrisâ effectiveness mightâve peaked with the greatest Corofin outfit but heâs still a good addition. If he could get PJ and Scan to ditch the 2003 training plan then heâd be worth his weight in gold.
100% agreed. Morris is a good addition to that back room team.
Galway chair: âPĂĄdraic would never target a manager from another county. We wouldnât stand over itâ

Galway chairperson Paul Bellew has refuted suggestions they approached new coach Mickey Graham while he was still Leitrim manager.
On Thursday night, it was confirmed that former Cavan manager Graham will join PĂĄdraic Joyceâs setup. Corofin native Dave Morris, a highly-regarded coach and analyst, was also announced.
Earlier this year, Graham was installed as Leitrim manager on a three-year term, succeeding Andy Moran. Two months after his appointment, Graham stood down.
Cian OâNeillâs move to become head coach of the Kerry footballers meant Galway have spent weeks searching for a replacement. There had been much speculation about Grahamâs arrival.
âWe are fully aware of how it looks,â said Bellew.
âFrom our perspective to be categorical about it from the outset, coaches move around. PĂĄdraic would never target a manager from another county. We wouldnât stand over it. As a county chairperson or a management committee. We know how it will be interpreted. Mickeyâs availability had nothing to do with the coaching vacancy in Galway.
âThat is clear. PĂĄdraic has actually been talking to a number of coaches over the last few weeks. He was keeping me updated on that. The opportunity presented itself for Mickey to get involved as PĂĄdraic changed things up.
âIt is important as well to point out the other addition to the coaching ticket in Dave Morris. That is probably getting overlooked and a great news story from Galwayâs perspective. When Cian left, PĂĄdraic was going to shake things up anyway. I have spoken to Leitrim as well, because I am aware of the narrative around it. It was made clear we didnât approach Mickey while he was manager and that was accepted.â

Graham was part of Joyceâs Connacht backroom team for the interprovincial series in Croke Park last weekend. Bellew stressed he has always enjoyed a good working relationship with Leitrim chair Enda Stenson and secretary Declan Bohan.
âThe first thing I said to PĂĄdraic about this is that we know how this will look but that is not a good enough reason not to do it because thatâs not what happened. Categorically, we didnât approach Mickey Graham while he was Leitrimâs manager. We know we have to listen to the pub talk and social media element, I get that, but I can only vouch for what did happen from myself and Padraicâs perspective.â
Last week Joyce said he was surprised by the manner of OâNeillâs departure.
âAfter the All-Ireland final, a lot of us backed away for a while and didnât make any decisions future-wise,â explained Bellew.
âWith respect to Cian, after the All-Ireland he mentioned walking away. As I said in the dressing room afterwards, no one should make rash decisions. Leave things a couple of weeks.
âWhen it came around to meeting the players for next year, Cian had stuck to that. He was gone and had lined up with Kerry. I spoke to him; he gave me a call in fairness to say thanks for the last three years. It did come quickly but that is the nature of the game. Coaches do move around. His reasons, travel and a young family, it is not altogether surprising.â
Defending Galway SFC champions Corofin take on Maigh Cuilinn in the county final this Sunday. The showpiece will take place in Tuam Stadium as work continues to install floodlights at Pearse Stadium.
âIt is fantastic to be in Tuam. We will have league games back there again next year. It is a viable option for big games given the seated capacity is now 3,000. The lights are on track. We are on track to play league games under lights after Christmas. We would expect three home games between hurling and football under lights in Salthill. There is a lot going on at the infrastructure front the last few years and it is coming to fruition now.â
