Galway - quadruple travails part 2

Broken arm for Darren Shaughnessy

A resounding 11 point win for Loughrea. A Loughrea-Clarinbridge semi-final draw would be ideal.

We’re fucked so.

The nature of the rivalry must have changed :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I was there, they looked frightening.

That’s the lad should have gotten the county gig… Passionate about it…

He wouldn’t be worrying about monogrammed runners for a start…

Interesting to see Fr Griffin’s/Eire Og on the rise. The original Galway city centre club. They suffered for numbers once the population moved out to housing estates in the suburbs. Hear they are doing saavge work at underage.

The Éire Óg club caters for players in the Headford Road, Castlelawn, Tirellan, Ballinfoyle, Menlo and Castlegar areas. Fr. Griffins caters for players in the College Road, Lough Atalia, Forster Street, the City Centre, Bohermore, Woodquay, Claddagh, Riverside, Glenburren and Tuam Road areas. The proposed new/amalgamated club would cater for players from all of these areas.[citation needed ]

The amalgamation was brought about because of the declining demographics (including in children under the age of 14) in the city centre area.[citation needed ] Over time this would affect the ability of each club to field teams at a number of age levels.[citation needed ]

So no semi-final double header in Athenry on Sunday. Was the best day of the club calendar for me.

Its always been on my bucket list to go to a Galway Hurling Semi Final double header in Athenry.

Mr. Bellew has no regard for tradition.
