Still good the last time I was there anyway. They usually have it well maintained in fairness.
It was a lovely ground back in the day. Still think it should be the home venue for the hurling.
Public meeting in Gullanes Hotel tomorrow evening regarding it’s development and potential. A few locals trying to push it on.
It’d need the county board I’d imagine. I can’t see it happening unfortunately, and I say this as someone who’ll be within a couple of km of pearse as the crow flies.
I like Ballinasloe (the pitch) but the traffic even from a Walsh Cup match is horrific. Pure half hour to move 3 metres job.
If I had to redevelop a ground for county use it’d be Athenry in a heartbeat. Shur it’s near sat on the motorway. Thankfully though we’ll never leave Salthill so I’m home in 10 minutes regardless of crowds.
Bsloe is near enough on the motorway. In the old road and park out by the big house on the corner on the way in before the hospital and walk.
Some of the Ballinasloe locals might ensure you’re walking home via the motorway
I lived there for a year. It’s a grand place.
I’ve never heard that before! Of all towns. 2 exits out of it on to the motorway I think it’s very accessible.
I’d have no objection to Athenry being developed either. Traffic and location aside, Pearse Stadium is soulless imo…
Shtay quiet you now sham. You won’t say anything about the bhoiis in Banlashlow.
Yes of course. I don’t know what kind of traction they are going to get or are any of the CB engaged in this.
That Offaly match this time last year was brutal for it in fairness. But that was probably the first sellout in a while there.
I see Dunmore failed to reach Croke Park after conceding 4-4 today to a Tyrone outfit. Goalkeeper was always a position they were likely to be vulnerable in.
I hear Conor Flaherty is not on the panel this year seemingly. I thought he was the lesser of all evils in goals when he was fit.
Ffs. Where do we go then. Gleeson or power aint the answer
I actually caught this on the streaming. For once I don’t think you could blame Gleeson for the goals. They were great finishes from the Galbally 12, Nugent. He got a hat trick in the first 20 minutes. Dunmore maybe left themselves a bit too open down the middle. Galbally were particularly strong in that area with two big midfielders who were hoovering up anything that went long.
Dunmore actually did amazingly well to fight back into a gale of wind in the second half to take a 1 point lead coming towards the end but got caught out by a late goal. Didn’t have it in them to come back again after doing all the hard work. A real case of goals wins games.
Heard that alright. Seems strange as he was the number one last year until his injury opened the door for Gleeson to get back in. He’s hardly thinking of making a push for the hurling squad? I doubt he’d make it this year anyway.
If you come into town from the Shannonbridge ramp instead of the Aughrim one there’s 6 car parks in all to choose from, all a brisk walk from the Duggan.
The whole town is a handy walk to duggan
Lads the parking is no issue. I parked at the association soccer pitch and it was still a standstill all sides for a good hour.
