Galway - quadruple travails part 2

Well that’s that then. Best of luck to him. Hope he stays healthy in the long run. 2023 just around the corner.

Is there any end to Michael Meehans soundness?

Some quality shovel leaning going on there. Admiring the work.

That picture is a decent enough representation of him and the Galway team during his playing days.

Would remind you of lads digging a grave. Hapes of dirty shovels and lads leaning on them casting surreptitious eyes on the 2 whiskey bottles lying under a bush as the youngest volunteer does the bulk of the digging. Nothing changes….

Corofin 1-7 - Maigh Cuillinn 0-6. Big Bernie saved a pen from Dessie Conneely just before halftime.

Fine game of ball.

Maigh Cuillinn 1-14 - Corofin 1-12 fulltime.

A brilliant game, storming second half from Moycullen. Dessie shot the lights out.

Two excellent teams. Along with mountbellew the three best teams in the county, salthill close behind.

As an aside Ian Burke came on in the second half and hit 0-2.

I know it was only group fare and not all that significant in the grand scheme but I’m surprised TG4 didnt show this. Two of the best teams in Ireland let alone Galway.

Moycullen were 15/8 for this. That made no sense to me at all.

Agreed, almost every player on the pitch plays or played for Galway at some level.

Caught this on the streaming. Top quality club game. Think Corofin were 5 up not long before half time. I know Corofin have come back to the pack somewhat from their peak but definitely feels like the club championship has taken a step up in quality and depth over the past few years. 3 very good teams in it now and Salthill have been motoring very well under O’Mahony so hopefully can add a fourth.

Yeah, excellent quality fare. Corofin looked excellent at times, not back to their brilliant best but not a million miles away either. And that’s minus Liam Silke and Daithi Burke of course. They need to figure out where to play Tony Gill, a quality player, probably centre back in my book but hes lost at corner forward.

Moycullen were without Gallagher too in fairness. Cooke got his hands on a lot of ball. Massive plus for Galway if he stays around.

Be interesting to see can Salthill put it up to MM.

Salthill giving Mountbellew bags of it in Tuam.

Halftime score : Salthill 1-9 - MM 1-8.

Salthill 1-9 Mountbellew Moylough 1-8

Another really good game. Goals from Tomo Culhane and Patrick Kelly. Salthill were 5 or 6 down at one stage.

Culhane has been very good. One of those young players that Galway need to kick on for next year and make themselves an option. Himself, Finnerty and Kerry import Donal Hunt doing most of the damage for Salthill.

Strong second half from MM. They found last year’s form.

I see Evan Murphy came off the bench for Salthill there. Was a brilliant minor a few years ago but must have been out for the guts of 2 years with a serious injury.
