Galway v Kilkenny All Ireland Hurling Final 2012

I hope you’re right Massey. Would be great for hurling.

The whest are going to win both finals this year lad

That’s a bullshit excuse. There would have been more noise at the All Ireland semi final that year v Waterford for them as it was nearly a full house with a relatively small number of neutrals. And finals are more diluted by the number of neutrals present.

They may have shit themselves but to blame the noise is ridiculous.

I’m sure it was the occasion he meant which was compounded by the atmosphere when they walked out.

Limerick were beaten by the best team to ever play hurling nothing wrong with that

I’m happy enough with that rationale but still typical Limerick blaming stupid things.

Well it was hardly our own fault now was it? Next you’ll be saying Gary Kirby’s fingers weren’t targeted in 96!

Not true. The semi final was a part of a double header with Kerry V Monaghan football QF. There was a relatively small Limerick crowd at that game, completely outnumbered by Waterford fans.
The atmosphere in the final when limerick came out was amazing. The bandwagon was in full flow and the buzz was unreal.

  :pint:

The thing about Kilkenny is that if they’re going to beat you it’s highly probable that they’ll do it in some 10 minute spell. They register an unanswered streak of scores and even if you recover your composure after that it’s too late. You need to keep them under all the pressure they can handle to avoid it, unless you’re capable of blitzing them yourself.

Brendan Cummins was talking today about the need to be brave and pile bodies onto their half-backline to keep them pinned back. He was saying it takes total commitment to pressurising them regardless of the risks you have to take to do it. Nothing else will be good enough.

some fookin buzz alright man

Well lads, up and I’ve had the breakfast. Ben is here sitting with me on his black and amber pjs and we’re watching a recording of the 99 final. He wants to watch Mickey Mouse but fuck it, he can wait. This is all Ireland morning and he knows the drill.

On Up for the Match, the Galway feature with all the kids, the couldn’t stop saying what they were going to do to Kilkenny this and watch out the Cats that; the KK one the tribesmen were mentioned once. Ergo we don’t fear Galway the way the Matties fear us.

We’re going to win this fucking game! 'Mon d’Stripymen!

Are you cycling up Locke? Where will you lock the bike?

Heading off shortly now too. Aul lad wants to get in for the minor game well on time, but I couldnt be bothered with it, think TIpp will win it by a lot.

As for the senior, I still cant call it. Kilkenny havent impressed me this year, bar 30 minutes against a woefully inept Tipperary performance. I suppose there is a crux of 2 questions to both sides, can Galway replicate their LF performance, and can KK replicate their second half v Tipp for the full game? KK are moving along nicely though, and since their hammering have been moving through the gears and progressively improving. Galway were average against Cork, and that may actually stand to them more rather than giving them a thumping and coming in all guns blazing. Everyone keeps saying you’ll know after 15 minutes, as they expect KK to come out and batter them early an finish the game off like they have done on so many occasions. I’m not so sure that Galway will crumble though, I fully expect them to handle an early onslaught, and give it back themselves. If I was basing a prediction only on this years championship form, I’d probably tip Galway, but that isnt taking into account they are playing a side that has lost, I think only 8 or so games in their last 60 championship outings (cue Appendage telling me they are all different teams!). But you get the point, this is a side that has massive experience, and experience of winning on the biggest occasions. I think KK will edge it, not by much though. 2-19 to 3-14.

Hope to fuck Galway win though.

Are there tickets floating around lads? Might take a walk down O’Connell St after 1.30

Theyll be floating around like dead leaves in the autumn breeze.

Thought so alright. Wouldn’t mind a Hill 16 ticket though. I imagine they might be a little trickier

Hurling men don’t do hype.

Going to miss the game as I am travelling to France with work for a few days. Have the feeling it will be a bit of an anti climax with Kilkenny winning by 9 or 10. Can’t see Galway replicating their Leinster final performance and Kilkenny have a better side with a better balance than they had in that game

In walking around town as I do the morning of every All Ireland. Ffs you wouldn’t even know there was a match on.
