Galway v Tipperary - All Ireland Senior Hurling Semi-Final 2017

For once I’d agree with Larkin - Galway very much untested, Tipp building momentum, changed up the full back line and won’t give up their AI crown too easy…Joseph Cooney or Conor Cooney won’t shoot the lights out again, Canning playing a deep lying Centre forward role won’t really hurt the score board…maybe Galway should start Joe FF to start and see if he can test them, Tipp have a far better spread of forwards, McInerney is dodgy at 6 also
It’ll be an interesting one for sure

Mcinerney isn’t dodgy at 6. He’s been great all year. Has failed against noone.

Who has he been up against? We’ll know after tomorrow…I don’t rate him

It’ll be a blow for Galway if they lose but it does get somewhat overlooked how much Galway have improved since they came into the Leinster Championship in 2009 and the benefits they now have of operating on an even playing field with a more structured season.

In the 15 seasons from 1997-2011 after the change of the championship structure, Galway reached the semi final just 3 out of 15 times. Their graph has been slowly rising since 2009. They lost somewhat unluckily by 1 point in the dying moments in both quarter finals of 2009 to Waterford and 2010 to Tipperary. Tomorrow is their fourth semi final since 2012 and in four of the last five years they’ve lost to the eventual All Ireland Champions.

12 of the starting Galway 15 are 26 or under, Joe Canning in 28, Aidan Harte 29 and the goalkeeper is 35. They should be a force for a few years to come regardless of the outcome tomorrow.

Well, let me think

Despite the Tipperary spin merchants trying to big Galway up, the Mejia are predominantly voting in favour of Tipp. Fierce pressure coming into this for Tipp now.
I was talking to a brother of a Tipp panelist today and the rallying call for them is to undo the hurt of 52 years since a back to back and he said what hurts them more is that Galway did it far more recently. Needless to say I told him not to worry about it and that I thought they would do it this year. He really seemed to appreciate the reassurance.

That never happened. Is this what you’ve been reduced to?

I think Tipp will do it.

Chill the beans Har, the famine is nearly over. Ye have this one in the bag. You’re a bit wound up the past few days. Is all OK?

He has been very good this year but he looks like a lad that could struggle if he is turned regularly

A lot of the print media are from Tipperary - Damien Lawlor, Vincent Hogan, Jackie Cahill, Shane Stapleton would immediately spring to mind. Think there’s a few more as well. Tipperary as a consequence get a very favourable press. Just look at the campaign to get Seamus Callanan hurler of the year last year.

Galway hurlers are largely unrepresented in the national media. Martin Breheny is from Galway but to the best of my knowledge the football end of the county.

What is that supposed to mean? Name a centre back that will not struggle if they are turned regularly?

@Sidney , the useless bastard is from Galway and has an MA in Journalism from DCU. He utilised this education to write a few Jeremy Hopkiss articles that the Simpleton Giant and @bandage liked. Does he count?

Post reported.

Ok. I’ll simplify it for you. He is slow to turn and slow in general. His footwork is poor which I believe will lead to him being turned more often than he should be turned.

This isn’t Strictly come dancing FFS

That’s a completely different thing. Ronan Maher is not only the slowest player on the tipp team he’s the slowest for his club too.
