Father Paul Murphy - originally from Waterford. Accompanied Irish peacekeepers on many tours of duty to places like the Golan Heights. Flying home with repatriated remains or providing counsel to the bereaved. Had the honour of him marrying my wife and I 10 years ago. Day before the wedding he concelebrated at the funeral of my grandad. A remarkable man. At the wedding he was there drinking shots and partaking in a sing song. Please God he can make a full recovery.

The news seems to be fairly positive, he posted up on twitter saying he was fine.

Gardaí are understood to be investigating statements made at the scene about Irish military involvement in the Middle East uttered by the teenage attacker, according to Garda sources.Gardaí are examining previous interactions with the suspect and believe that it is not terror-related.
