Thought you didnt read my posts anymore
What is mate? The life you pretend to live?
No i do but i asked if anyone else didâŚ
Ah lovely.
No your definition of irony
The life I pretend to live - wtf - head to bed there mate.
 well played
Tis a great country we live in. My voting card arrived to my dublin address last thursday and my wexford voting card arrived on friday - is the register that messed up?
Following on from the pre-recorded telephone message i received the other day from Fianna Failâs Peter Power, who is not in my consituency, today i received one of those election leaflets in the post from a Green party member, who again is not in my constituency. Only in this country.
Not just in Ireland Dunph, Iâve just received state election latters from candidates here. And for the last federal election the same, except for another constituency, which I donât live in. Of course the starngest part is that Iâm not even registered to vote, as Iâm not a citizen.
Fine Gael continuing to fly in the polls. Very worrying. I know there are some here who feel they deserve a chance, but thatâs only a worthwhile position if you agree with their policies.
I accept theyâll be less corrupt than Fianna FĂĄil, and Iâd guess they may do a better job of managing the economy. But their social policies and general ideology are scary to me.
How accurate are these polls though, rockoâŚAnyone remember what the polls were saying in the run up to the last election?..Would always take them with a pinch of saltâŚand it has been said on here before I bet plenty of people who have said they wonât vote FF to the pollsters, will vote FF on the day
Iâve three polling cards up here now. None of them mine. I wonder what my local Sinn Fein representitive would pay for them?
Anyone done this thing yet? Supposedly tells you how youâll vote by the partyâs position vs your opinion.

Aparently Iâm extremely left wing though Iâd never vote for the Shinners or Labour
Last couple of polls before last election were very accurate. In fact they were largely discounted because they showed a late surge for FF on the back of Prime Time Debate. Most commentators thought they had to be overestimating surge but in reality they were bang on.
Some could well vote FF on the day but I agree with rocko in that the rise of FG is probably most worrying. Labourâs move to the centre and their failure to argue disastrous impacts of massive FG cuts looks to have cost them. Instead they have been on the defensive with regard to their own income tax policies and the odd feeble attack on FGâs hidden tax. Pretty pathetic really though maybe Gilmore will change tactic tonight. I think he is a good politician but has toned it down way too much in election.
Wou8ld you forsee FG winning enough seats for an overall majority, larryâŚthat may well come to pass, but read some article last week that was predicting that FF could win less than 20 seats, they will be decimated in this election no doubt but they they will sure have the bones of 30 TDâs come the next Dail
Iâve no doubt that there will be a âshameâ factor in people going with FF in the privacy of the polling booth, who would never admit that to a pollster but I believe (and hope) that will be outweighed by the number of âdonât knowsâ who vote. I believe the majority of âdonât knowsâ will have made up their minds that theyâre not voting FF - they just havenât decided who they will vote for yet.
As Larry says I expect a change in Gilmore tonight. Thereâs no way they can continue with their tactics which have cost them huge amounts of support in the past few months. Time to turn the aggression back on and time to get stuck into FF and FG.
Probably not an overall but enough that will ensure the government is likely to be more right of centre than left of centre (even by Irish standards). `I think FF will be up and around 30 though would love to be wrong
Rocko, for a stable long spell in government they will have to do a deal with labour and that will probably put the brakes on some of the more challenging policies. Unless they work a miracle with transfers from Fianna Failers. But they are still unlikely to nick a majority.
I certainly hope so Balbec.
Even things like selling off state assets and privatising bus routes are huge problems for me. I canât understand how anyone who has taken a look at the consequences in the UK could be in favour of privatising transport or selling off state infrastructure.
Labour ruined any chance we had at political reform in this country by ruling out doing business with left wing candidates. The irony is they killed their own chances over a 24 hour period when Shorthall and then Burton showed themselves up to be just as power hungry as the FF party they reviled.
People who naively thought Gilmore ws for âchangeâ immediately switched their allegiance to FG after this.We could have had a left/right divide in Irish politics for teh 1st time ever if Labour werenât so power hungry imo.
Enda Kenny wants to sell off non essential State Assets at a time when you cannot give property away and not only that he expects to raise 7bn. I would say if we sold all of our essential State Assets weâd be doing well to get 7bn ffs.
Yet Gerry Adams is the one living in economic la la land?
I expect essential state assets to also be flogged under FG. The IMF will want to impose some shock doctrine on us. Expect FG to be a pushover. TINA will be making an appearance some time soon after the election.
