Have the People-Before-Profit crew been congratulated on being the only party to predict that the JobBridge initiative would inevitably turn into a slave labour scheme for unscrupulous employers? Gino was to the forefront in that.

Longford-Westmeath

Count 13:
BANNON, James (Fine Gael) +1,130 7,077
BURKE, Peter (Fine Gael) +248 7,877
HOGAN, Paul (Sinn FĂŠin) +729 7,370
MORAN, Kevin ‘Boxer’(Independent Alliance)+1,012 11,120
PENROSE, Willie(Labour)+702 7,058
Non-transferable: 2086

Kevin “Boxer” Moran ELECTED.

Bannon edges out Penrose on this count. But Boxer now has to distribute a surplus of 71. Technically possible Penrose could still overhaul Bannon.

But Labour has asked for a FULL RECOUNT!

Connie Geraty’s votes I take it @Sidney.
Penrose 19 behind and Bannon is an un-loveable smarmy cunt so hopefully Fat Willie can overhaul the funeral going bastard. Westmeath votes as well to be distributed so I’ll nap Penrose by a nose.

Yes.

Paul Hogan (SF) is still out in front of Bannon by 293 in the race for the last seat.

If Penrose is eliminated you would expect Bannon to overtake Hogan, but Peter Burke (FG) is also still in the race and still over 3,000 short of a quota. Burke and Penrose are both Westmeath candidates as is Hogan for that matter.

I expect Bannon to take it but hoping that the Westmeath factor from Penrose’s transfers (presuming he is eventually eliminated) might somehow keep Hogan ahead.

The greatest need here is for Longford to have a Member of Parliament.

I’m hearing Labour have been refused a recount in Longford/Westmeath

Sanity prevails.

Boxer’s surplus being distributed now.

Bannon’s nickname is “Bonkers”.

These recounts are some waste of time. Mrs Sheahan has wasted a full (working) day just to confirm the latest in her string of electoral defeats. Currently we’re having her distribution and that’s it for the night.

Longford/W.Meath giving Dublin Bay N a run for it’s money here.
Would be gas if Moran’s surplus of 64 mostly went to Penrose and he snagged it by a vote of two.

To think Bertie wanted to get rid of all this excitement with his fucking machines.

Machines, pah.

Haughey ELECTED.

Waiting on the details of the transfers now.

Word is Lyons is eliminated, or at least will be after Haughey’s surplus.

What we need is a version of the steward’s room camera, so we can watch every vote being contested and make up our own mind.

Mitchell will surely get in now on Lyons transfer. Squeaky bum time for the rest.

I thought Power would transfer better to Haughey.

McGrath would have been hoping for a bigger Haughey surplus as I think he’ll score well off it.

Lyons will elect Mitchell and Broughan and the battle will be between O’Riordain and McGrath.

I wouldn’t wouldn’t trust tallies on this one.

Would Haughey also transfer well to O’Riordain? He needs every single vote now.

396 ahead of McGrath at this stage.

Haughey’s surplus will not be distributed apparently?

Bannon 9 ahead of Penrose after Boxer’s surplus in Longford-Westmeath.

Surely will be a recount now.

Talk the rest of the count/recount/whatever will be put back to Saturday.

Why wouldn’t Haughey’s surplus be distributed? Can’t see the remaining candidates letting that go.

Jesus, Willie came close.

Beats me.

Lyons is mathematically too far behind to make up the gap on Mitchell on Haughey’s surplus so that could be the only reason?

Would make a difference to the other candidates though?

Surely it has to be distributed or is their a technicality I don’t know about? Some quare system.

Ah right, apparently what will actually happen now is they’ll distribute Lyons’ surplus first and if the gap after that between the 5th and 6th candidates is less than Haughey’s surplus, then they would distribute it.

Ah now. Relax yourself. The country went from crisis to crisis for the 70 odd years before that period. We were a third world country in the 1980’s. While I accept things went horribly wrong in the 2007 period and things were out of control before that the reality is the country is infinitely better off than it was in the 1980s by whatever metric you look at and has been in every year of stable governments since 1997

Surplus from whoever is elected or elimanated first, if haugheys surplus won’take a material difference they redistribute the ones below first. Haugheys will be distributed after if nessecary
