Paul Hogan (SF) is still out in front of Bannon by 293 in the race for the last seat.
If Penrose is eliminated you would expect Bannon to overtake Hogan, but Peter Burke (FG) is also still in the race and still over 3,000 short of a quota. Burke and Penrose are both Westmeath candidates as is Hogan for that matter.
I expect Bannon to take it but hoping that the Westmeath factor from Penroseâs transfers (presuming he is eventually eliminated) might somehow keep Hogan ahead.
The greatest need here is for Longford to have a Member of Parliament.

Ah now. Relax yourself. The country went from crisis to crisis for the 70 odd years before that period. We were a third world country in the 1980âs. While I accept things went horribly wrong in the 2007 period and things were out of control before that the reality is the country is infinitely better off than it was in the 1980s by whatever metric you look at and has been in every year of stable governments since 1997
