Then FF will be back on their own.
The lights have literally gone out at the Longford-Westmeath count centre in Kenagh, Co. Longford.
Lucky there is no Fianna Fail candidate involved in the recount - a pile of their opponentâs votes would no doubt have mysteriously vanished by the time the lights came back on if there had been one involved.
Fuck me - Mary Coughlan is back on tv!
Couldnt believe my eyes. Theyâre all back. And laughing at the country once again. Fuck it, Iâm in, lets watch the whole place fucking burn.
I would think she will be considering running in the next election, FF well on the way to being the biggest party.
I know. In the last few days weâve seen coughlĂ n, dempsey, 2 aherns and the lenihan whoâs still breathing and theyâre all smug as fuck. Itâs like a horror film.
FF ARE BACK BUD:eyeglasses:
Great legs in fairness to her.
Nice bit of reporting here by Paul Melia, exposing a classic FF reverse ball-hop. You couldnât make this shit up.
"âŚWhile there remains a common belief that the EU/IMF troika imposed charges as part of the November 2010 bailout, they were already on the way.
The year previously, when Fianna FĂĄil and the Green Party were in power, Ireland submitted plans to the European Commission, outlining how it intended to comply with the Water Framework Directive. That aimed to improve water quality across the EU and effectively instructed member states to charge for water to discourage waste and help recover treatment costs.
The submission is telling.
"Following a recent Government decision, legislation is to be introduced⌠to enable local authorities to charge domestic users for water services in a manner which provides incentives for efficient water use and which recovers an adequate contribution of the costs of water services," it said.
So Fianna FĂĄil is trying to have it both ways - making the abolition of a charge they planned to introduce a condition of entering government.
The reason is simple. The hard Left owns the issue and now appeals to a section of the electorate which Fianna FĂĄil once called its own. It must act to get those voters backâŚ"
Labour were way down my list of preferences (I had that awful boot Joanna Tuffy down at number 9) but I think itâs a fucking shame that OâRiordain has lost his seat.
He stands out as a beacon of genuinely progressive values and if Labour had a few more like him theyâd be in a much better place.
Had some very positive words for Padraig MacLochlainn too after he lost his seat.
Hopefully it wonât be too long before both are back in the Dail.
Iâve just been reading an interview he did with Hot Press last year and he comes across as a thoroughly alright sort.
Tallies indicate Bannon is 1 vote behind penrose
02/03/2016 01:21 Recount update
The Fine Gael team has emerged from discussions. James Bannon looks dejected as he heads towards the count centre floor; Fine Gael team preparing for bad news. It looks like Longford could be without a TD for the first time in the history of the State.
Brendan Ogle statement
MY FINAL WORD ON AAA & PBP
We have to move on. FF & FG command just about half the population, Labour are a beaten docket and the yearning for CHANGE is acute.
I am going to be honest here. The alternative is not clear.
From a policy viewpoint the Right2Change policies, developed by citizens, are the way forward, I am utterly convinced of this.
AAA refused to get on board with R2C while PBP played it both ways, signing up while forming an alliance with AAA thereby confusing everybody. But PBP candidates centrally or in national debates did not push R2C in any way and were instructed not to do so by HQ. So choices have been made.
Here is my choice.
I chose in the past to try to forgive disgraceful defamatory attacks on Dave Gibney and I by AAA when R2C evolved. I (stupidly) had enough humanity in me to go to a AAA meeting in Dublin West and sincerely wish Ruth luck. I (even more stupidly) gave her a number 3 on Friday in the interests of unity.
I had previously given a number 1 to Joe Higgins in 3 elections and a number 1 to Ruth in a by-election. I choose NEVER AGAIN!
I was unaware on Friday that in both Dublin West and Cork, AAA last Wednesday and Thursday had planned and carried out sustained attacks on SF candidates while taking the eye off the real enemy. I attach photographic evidence below.
I was unaware of it when I met Joe Higgins in RTE on Saturday and shook his hand wishing Ruth luck.
Whether I, or you, like it or not there will be no non FF/FG Government without SF in it. This is simply a mathematical fact. I understand many people donât like it and I completely understand some of the reasons why but to do what is outlined below is to support the gombeens at the expense of an alternative. I personally find that utterly disgraceful. Unforgivable.
SF have a difficult history. So do all Irish parties. So do AAA/ PBP. Leon Trotsky was not a pacifist you know. Our broken âRepublicâ did not fall off Archbishop McQuaidâs rosary beads. All our parties were created from terrible loss, pain and bloodshed. On all sides.
This election was not about the past. It was about the future of my children and, hopefully, my Grandchildren.
To go to our marches, collect money in their buckets and use that money in a campaign to support the establishment while targeting a section of a real alternative in the manner outlined makes this new outfit absolutely unfit of my personal support going forward. They have made choices. So have I.
Finally to say this. The doctrine of Trotskyism prevents its advocates from forming a government within the capitalist system. I cannot think of anything more re-assuring to the capitalist system than to assure it that you will not challenge it from within government.
No wonder the right and Trotskyist left get on so well. Now, having written this, I will say no more about them.
Time to build without them
Where?
The Looney Left.
A bit rich scoffing about left-wing factionalism when two identical right parties refuse to work with each other in giving the country a stable government.
âRightâ parties, ffs. FF are preaching about fairness and closing down Irish water. They are not right wing.
Anyway, all the votes havenât been counted yet, just wait until they are.
Jackie Cahill mugged Smith off splendidly.
