Kinda like Slab Murphy?

What about Slab?

I asked the question, mate.

Maybe you’d like to add depth to your question because I’m not seeing the connection.

Is Tom Murphy a paid state official? Did he run at the recent election?

It is bizarre that he has been mentioned a number of times during this election when the man has fuck all to do with the political landscape.

I’d like the odds on Brendan Howlin as Ceann Comhairle 6/1.

FF or FG won’t want to give up a vote from the floor and the position will be very attractive to Labour given that it would guarantee a seat in the next election, more so when Howlin’s right hand man, George Lawlor would be in a very strong postiton to return two TDs in Wexford next time out in that scenario.

The only thing going against it will be Howlin getting elected as Labour leader.

I’ll throw a few other names in.

Caoimhghin O’Caoilain
Finian McGrath
Noel Grealish
Jan O’Sullivan
Maureen O’Sullivan
Catherine Byrne

There’s never been a female Ceann Comhairle. I wouldn’t bet against one this time.

SF won’t accept it I’d imagine.

FG are in a precarious position if they are in a Minority Govt so they won’t be able to give it to one of their own just in case.

They’d be loathe to gift it to FF, who’d I’d imagine would love to put up Bobby Aylward and grab another seat from FG in Carlow KK next time out.

Howlin is a smart option as he’s inoffensive and you could see FF and FG both agreeing on him. Jan O’Sullivan is a good shout as well but the fact that Howlin was Leas Ceann Comhairle makes him the obvious choice.

But if Labour get 7 seats, would losing one to being Ceann Comhairle affect their speaking rights?

01/03/2016 16:08 Recount speculation
Sources within Fine Gael at the count centre are saying the difference between Penrose and Bannon could now be down to one vote. The recount looks to be at its halfway point.

I’m not sure. It’s say seven elected members and only the Ceann Comhairle can take the speaking rights away once they’ve been granted.

That might put a spanner in the works.

It won’t be a concern if Penrose comes up short anyway.

What happens if they’re tied on votes? Person with the most 1st prefs proceeds?

Scissors paper stone.

AAA WIN SITH SEAT DREAT SMYTH DUBLIN:eyeglasses:

Speaking to Independent.ie, Mr Barry called for General Secretary Tom Curran to resign as a result of the electoral strategy.

And he hit out at the party’s DIrector of Elections and Dublin MEP Brian Hayes, who he said “should have stayed in Europe”.

:joy:
