Was O’Clocartaigh’s problem not location and struggling on transfers from the city candidates?

I actually wouldn’t at all surprise me to see Averil joining the Social Democrats in the nearish future.

I thought she ran a super campaign out here.

How many elections has Averil fucked up now?

SF AND FG :eyeglasses:

She’d be a good candidate for them. The SDs need to get some more potential candidates.

Dermot Ahern pushing for FF to support a minority FG government. FF will run rings around the Blueshirts in such an arrangement. Fine Gael are fucked.

Coverage very poor and labour getting disproportionate airtime.

You’re obsessed with her.

She’s a lovely girl.

Perhaps. There does appear to be a bit of a city candidates transferring to each other factor, but I thought the Irish language factor might have got him a few hundred more off O’Tuathail than it did.

There also wasn’t much in the way of “far left” transfers and he suffered from that.

Galway is quite an affluent city and the water charges thing doesn’t seem to have had a huge effect here. There’s more of a moderate left vote and Connolly tapped into that.

Like a lot of SF candidates, perhaps you have to lose one before you win one.

Agree with that.

Kenny has to go. He must realise that now. He can’t go in a year as FF will immediately pull the plug.

FG’s strategy should be try to enter talks with all parties, put the charade up that you can’t form a Govt as others unwilling and you want stability. Kenny says he will step down and announces a campaign will start as soon as FG select a new leader. He is caretaker for a couple of months.

Otherwise as you say FF will run rings around them and will pull the plug as soon as it is the most populist time they can.

Balls.

How many seats left to fill?

Under 200 the gap in the end.

Disaster in terms of vote management.

Huge fuck up from Sinn Fein.

Ye badly managed alright

Great camaraderie between the last two in Donegal, reminiscent of two fat BDO darts players embracing after a marathon 5 setter at the Lakeside. None of your recount malarkey here.
