General Election 2016

Burton: “Just let me say this Karen…”

Ni Bheolain: “Sharon.”

Burton rattled as fuck again speaking with Ni Bheolain live from Dublin West.

I’m growing increasingly sick of @Juhniallio and his fairytales

Go on so. What is it this time?

BTW I was amused last night when I looked at the phone and saw you’d tagged me 4 times. Were you missing me?

McNamara is worth throwing a few quid on, Carey is in trouble. His silence has been noted by many.

The world gives a person what they work for??

Did middle \lower income earners earn the recession? Did they earn the bond holder debt? The increase in taxation and loss of all kinds of community funding? What about pensioners and the disabled, did they earn the cuts that were placed on them? No, big business looked after big business at the expense of the ordinary person. When the ordinary person stood up against one impost, the government sent in the state police to ensure water metres were installed, gangs of guards working around the clock, going as far as putting ring leaders of the anti water protest under surveillance. When those same communities demand the same level of policing to stop drug dealers they are told fuck off. Guards worked all hours to crush the shell to sea protest but when people living in the countryside demand more guards to stop rural robberies stations around them are closed… But big business is taken care of.

You dream good dreams but real life is different.

What’s real life? Give us your take on it there…

The 1981 election was the last run out for Brendan Corish and in the two elections in 1982, Labour didn’t get a seat. FF got 3 in February 1982 and FG got 3 in November 1982 - Yates, Michael D’Arcy Senior and Avril Doyle.

This time out it really should remain as is. Wouldn’t be surprised though if Malcolm pulled off a shock and won the Battle of Gorey. Its been said that D’arcy is not the best of vote getters. Failing to get elected in 2011 in a Fine Gael landslide is testament to that. I had wondered if there was a possibility that FF fall short of two but that Malcolm beats Browne Óg to it, thereby freeing up Mythen to take a SF seat in Enniscorthy. Ivan Yates doing the Wexford constituency on Newstalk felt Browne Og as a banker. He also referenced SF having a bad campaign in Wexford and lacking in confidence themselves. Gorey didn’t return any seat last time but the only way that’ll happen this time is if Enniscorthy returns three, which is surely too big an ask. Yates was saying in his PP column earlier that for all the hype about him that Carthy guy down in Wexford town hasn’t a hope.

This is for real

You’d scarcely see that in a students’ union election from a ‘take the piss’ candidate.

I notice the Labour logo is extremely small on the posters I have seen up.

Someone has to have told her about Rick Rolling

Hopefully Senator Higgins won’t be the victim of yet more unseemly cyber-bullying after sharing this poster.

One would certainly hope so.

I see a gathering opinion in the newspaper comment pieces that we will have a second election by the autumn.

FF may well play for this.

Column inches to fill. Last week the “gathering opinion” in pro-establishment “political commentary” pieces was that Labour would do better than expected.

A second election would play into the hands of Sinn Fein and nobody else.

A Fine Gael/Fianna Fail government is the obvious and only viable government from a numbers point of view and also because there is effectively no difference between the parties.

If they refused to form a government out of pig-headed arrogance, the ones to suffer at another election would be themselves.

They’ll form one though and there won’t be another election.
