@Massey will O’Brien go again?

Surely sure he’s at a loose end now since the KP lads knifed him

@Aristotle isn’t going to be appointed campaign manager anyways, that’s for sure.

Ah wide open so. Yeah Lyons ran last time out.

:smiley:

Was he involved in a scrape there a while back ??

Himself, his son and for others were found not guilty of assualt that time? That must be well over 10 years ago now as he was def still a FF TD when he was up in court.

Why did he leave FF ?? Was it the austerity 2008 to 2011 ??

Not at all, although Mattie will probably try and tell you that nowadays. He left over a proposed ban on Hare coursing bill as far as I remember.

Briefings from MI5 and Interpol are clearly a lie, a tour de France from @Rocko, are the Dept of Foreign Affairs aware that MI5 are sending secret briefings to Waterford road haulage people?

no, but im sure they are aware that the security and intelligence division of AGS are getting these briefings and passing information from those onto parties with an interest

Stating the obvious but big difference being Fine Gael’s sole candidate in a by-election having been anointed by the Taoiseach and then going as an independent in a wide open field. Naturally Verona Murphy’s vote will drop, hopefully quite significantly.

Seanie O’Shea, as well as having a great year for Kerry last year, is a respected GGA and ground football man/ref/coach/ex player and goes with Mick Wallace’s blessing under Independents4Change banner. He could conceivably go well enough.

Independent local councillor Ger Carthy also has a strong support base. His late auld lad Leo was a councillor for decades and he’s there himself for a while now - he polled decently last time in the election. I think Shane Ross was cosying up to him recently but he’d probably be FF gene pool.

FF are running 4 (one in each district) and Lisa McDonald was bitter enough about Malcolm Byrne getting the nod ahead of her in the by election. George Lawlor came second behind Byrne but has announced he’s not running - Labour must be wary of Howlin and Lawlor splitting the Wexford town vote and neither of them getting in.

Johnny Mythen Sinn Féin will also be in the shake up for the last season, I imagine.

Mattie was never a sitting FF TD iirc. Did he not win his seat as an Independent.
He was overlooked for nomination on a good few occasions which left a bitter taste. He has a huge FF following in Deep South Tipperary.

He must have stayed on his feet all the time so between 2007 and 2011 when he was in Leinster house?
