General Election 2020 Hub

Shay Brennan is 78 votes behind IRA/SF candidate. Madigan about 1,000 ahead. Neal Richmond looks safe. Madigan should make it too. There’ll be about 6,000 votes there with Richmond still needing a few.

Cullinane will get a senior ministry. Watch out South Kilkenny. Waterford City needs lebensraum.

A proportionate sample of the overall vote is used as the surplus

I saw her up close at a SF gig last summer… She’s a lovely looking lady.

Some astute political analysis here all day in contrast to the bell ends they have had on RTE

Thanks

It works of a percentage basis.

For example say candidate A gets in on the first count with a surplus of 2,000.

They go back through their votes and say 50% of Candidate A’s number 2’s go to candidate B and 25% to candidate C.

Therefore from the surplus of A, 1,000 votes will go to B (50% of 2,000) while C will get 500 (25% of A’s surplus).

BBC NI website has the Irish election down as EU news…

As far as I know once they go past the quota it’s the ballots past the quota that are used as the surplus.
