General Election 2020 Hub

Why are FF desperate to have the election after Easter??? Do they just not want to canvass in the cold or dark nights??

When they were saying “no one wants an election at Christmas”…no one bar them gave a fuck. It’s one day, we’ll all vote anyway! Let them walk the roads freezing, fuck them!

@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy mate Darragh O’Brien was on The Tonight Show last night shouting about holding the election after Easter.

With the RIC thing and health trolleys/waiting lists a big issue and a bit of a bloody nose for FG I’m astounded that FF haven’t just jumped at calling an election now!

Who knows what could happen between now and Easter.

Maybe Micheal doesn’t fancy meeting the Donald on St Patrick’s Day if the stars aligned for him.

FF are at nothing. They’ve basically been in government with FG so very hard to really go in on them on anything.

It makes no sense for FG to have it now, they would be far better off waiting until May at least

They’ve been getting terrible press lately, through their own fault

Unless Varadkar knows the Brexit “deal” is a complete crock and that that will become widely known by May - that’s the month of May, not the former British PM

Did they not do okay at the council elections?

Agree, they’re a fucking joke, slagging Harris and Murphy saying they’re shit at their jobs yet keeping them in government. Be interesting how the voters see that.

So why are FF wanting to leave it til after Easter??? Why are they nearly demanding it?

How do people think Labour will do

By election performances in Wexford and Cork North Central were surprisingly strong

I think their biggest problem is people just forgetting about them

I think Aodhan might be returned this time along with Nash in Louth and maybe a seat in Cork North Central

If they could get 10 seats that would be the start of the road back

Interesting. Could it take two months to realise we are in the shit, hard Brexit or soft Brexit? Is that what Martin and FF think…Christ if that came about, Charlie be looking down saying Micheal Martin is the most cunning, devious…,

Are they though

Seems to me they’re just sort of dithering and on the fence

It’s often not a particularly clever move to force a winter election

Voters are thick. I think people are generally sick of FG. Be interesting to see who can convert it.
This should be an election where someone like labour do well, but they are a shambles. SF might go well but their brand is still a bit toxic. Greens will go well in the cities but I’m not sure they’ve enough people with profile running to make any real in roads. PBP and those are dead in the water I think.
Soc Dems might go okay but the same as the greens I can’t see where they pick up the seats. Ive no idea what they stand for either other than wokeness.
You are left with FF then if you don’t want FG. I’m not sure the people are ready to go back there in massive numbers though. I think this will be a very muddy election with no clear winner.
Should be Sinn Féin’s rise, but they’ve lost ground under Mary Lou I think.
Maybe an increase in independents and Healy Raes

I would say it’s not a clever move for FF to force an election full stop. You might be punished for it by an electorate that can’t tell the difference between you and the other main party

Not for Boris.

Who gives a shite about voting, it’s one day.

It’s not clever for a sitting government with trolleys list and waiting times increasing in winter but surely FF should be jumping at the chance…although they have kept FG in government so it will be hard for them to slag FG too much.

FG basically wrote Johnson’s Brexit deal - that’s widely accepted - Johnson turned up to Liverpool with basically zero ideas

I think the realisation that it’s not a good deal didn’t take a long time to sink in for the clued in

The frontstop is not good for the north and introduces huge paperwork and bureaucracy as well as tensions

Had he not helped Johnson out, Johnson would still be in turmoil and we wouldn’t have a crackpot Tory majority government intent on no deal at the end of 2020

A lot of the parties are unappealing to a wide raft of voters this time around. I wouldn’t be surprised if Aontu the new party of Peader Toibin took a few seats in rural areas. Not sure how many candidates they are running though?

They’d go down a treat with the likes of the link walshes father

The Greens are the only party coming into the election on an “up”

Usually it’s obvious which of the main parties will gain and which will lose seats

But all of them, including the independents - look to be on a downward trajectory or plateauing

Maybe FF and Labour look to have a chance of very modest gains

That could actually make it more unpredictable than it looks at face value - within a certain window

I anticipate a poor turnout - lower than the last two elections

Brexit deal or no deal is a disaster. Varadkar had the EUs backing in Liverpool. He didn’t go on a solo run.

Britain were leaving, that much is clear. Now they have negotiations and can work things out, hopefully to everyone’s satisfaction.

Nothing only Britain staying in could have been good for Ireland. If the French want to stick the boot in at the ports we’re more fucked than the brits!

At least theres a border down the Irish Sea, that’s better than from Donegal to Louth!

It could have been a lot worse!

Are Aontu a southern version of the DUP… Flat earthers and creationts?

They’re what Sinn Fein were before they got woke

Really? Aontu are republicans and socialists?

They are in me hole

You should see the sort of eejits that canvass for them

Fucking crackpots

Hopefully they crash and burn and I expect they will
